Ground XL aircraft where are they all?
If you have seen any XL aircraft blocked in like that on Sky news at MAN/EGCC let this site know please.

Today as I was on the crew bus for staff west I seen Two 737-900's and a 737-800 sitting on a remote stand with trucks parked behind them. This was at 17.00. Hope this helps.

theres a 73? next to the zoom at GLA blocked in with a snow plow. sad sight to see one airline sitting like that never mind two

There a 737 in Dublin but its not blocked in, just parked in a remote stand.

Is there any real reason to block them in? Its not as if they're going anywhere is it? poor sods, it all seems a bit over kill to me, wish all the best to all XL staff across the country.

Well just think how much in landing fees XL must still owe this would be the reason to ensure the do not go any where!!

Apparently the Canadian registered 738 at Glasgow is no longer impounded as all outstanding debts have been settled.Aircraft will leave for the states today or tomorrow !

The debt rests with the administators of XL. The aircraft are leased and owned by another company that will not be responsible for XL debts. It is all a little unneccessary but gives a little power to a BAA goon.

Has anyone got any pictures of the aircraft grounded with say like a van behind them or something?

A number of airframes are apparently grounded outside the UK, caught up in the airline's collapse.

There's EMA - B738 BRS - 2x B738 MAN - B738, 2x B739, LGW - 3x B738, 2x B767 GLA - B738 DUB - B738 ACE - B738 NCL - B738 LCA - B738 The leased aircraft like the A330 went back to XL France yesterday/today. Both TOM B767.200's, bmi A321, Titan B752 are out today bringing passengers back according to the CAA, from there destination and passengers might be able to get on flights with FCA, TOM and TCX + low cost airlines |

Why all the interest in gaining pics of grounded aircraft, i mean for F***Sake it's not the first time this has happened and won't be the last, surely individuals wanting pics of aircraft blocked in, obviously have too much time on their hands, unless you are some individual media mogul trying to get a cheap scoop, this is now history, just wait for the next one to go bust, then if you are that good at media detection, in this case not due to the fact you are having to beg for pics of grounded aircraft, you can have a story hot off the press.
And if it is true that BAA blocked in 737 with a snow plough, then i think it is a sad day, as if somebody is gonna come along, get airside without an airside ID, Walk to a remote stand, start the apu, start the engines and taxi out and go for unauthorised take off, I mean come on BAA Overkill, get a grip on reality, bad enough being searched by shopping mall security coming to work, so if BAA is that suspicious of the aircraft being taken, then they should gaurd it 24 hrs a day, then hey presto they might find that nobody will steal or damage it, after all i mean it is parked within a secured area after all. |
Well I only asked because I never seen it happen before. I wouldn't even contact the media, I'm only 15 <_<

WRONG! All debts remain with the Aircraft that have incurred them! Its the same a driving your car through a speed camera, the car registration is sent the fine! If the owners (lessors) want their Aircraft released from each Airport then its them that have to stump up the cash for any debts. |

With the situation of impounded aircraft across the country, and indeed in other parts of the world, it really does highlight how risky the aircraft leasing business is, especially due to the fact that as mentioned above, that all debts raised by an aircraft, remain with the aircraft.
I can't imagine that there are only a few fuel bills and a couple of landing fee's outstanding on these aircraft, I'd think it's safe to assume that most probably a quarter's worth of debt are outstanding on each machine. I saw an aircraft (B767) impounded at Birmingham Airport on a remote stand with a snow plough parked behind it in 2005. I believe that it was a shoddy airline setup that sold seats to India but never actually carried out a flight. Others suggest is was on lease to FlyWho which folded, but I never confirmed it. In response to MattGarner's request, I believe that the Press Association (www.pa.press.net) have some images. A polite email to them may yield some results for you. Cheers Kev |
You better "block" these airplanes wherever parked...
