Taxying out for 27L at LHR this morning on way to IAD, noticed OpenSkies 757 parked by BA engineering area. Fitted with large set of winglets.

Surely slightly provocative?

Shortly to conduct ETOPS testing

BA sourced /Owned , Converted by BA engineering, On the BA AOC,

Saw her take off from LHR today at around 1350 BST.

Who flew it ???

Management probably. They weren't too keen on broadcasting their callsign though. :O

It was training at Prestwick yesterday.

Former BA 757 training pilot, not well liked when in BA.

Interesting combination of flags above the registration at the back there: EU and US flags, but (at the moment) a G- rego.

And I see they're doing the 'Jetstar - a Qantas Group airline' thing by putting BA's name there as well.

It's training throughout the UK all week, taking in airports such as MAN, CWL and PIK.

Surprised it's headed across the pond already though...

It flew at Manchester yesterday morning but was parked up in the evening
almost lost in the crowd of Spanish planes for that certain football game

It is has the making of being a another shambles. Travelled to HEL yesterday on a BA 757 it clearly needed some internal investment. It was falling apart.

Was at CWL twice today, same as the last 2 days.

Training or flight testing? Anyone know?

It was sat or should I say hidden in the furthest corner of the west apron at MAN this evening, is it really that sensitive that it has to be kept away from LHR. ?

Also heard a whisper that the Open Skies aircraft are to be serviced at MAN with non BA engineers ?? (reliability of source not known)

I can answer that one, incredibly unreliable!

Maint is to be done in Brussels by Sabena - not BA engineers :(

SN Technics in BRU will do line maint and A checks. BA Engineers in CDG and JFK will do line maint.
Higher checks will be done by BA at LHR.
