On the tarmac now 13:00 est departure for Cottesmore not Waddington as previously reported (So I'm told). Return to Brunt tomorrow

On the news tonight it had to make an emergency landing from this flight due to fire warning light coming on.

As usual the media blowing it out of all proportion and rendering this as having doomed the entire project.

saman 15th Apr 2008 12:07

Did it land at Brunty or Cottesmore? No flight duration or other details on the VTS web-site just the fact that it flew and had to land a wee bit early due to the minor glitch with the fire warning.

Think Positive

She landed at Cottesmore at about 1620 after a flight time of an hour and a half or so after testing the avionics.
All must have gone well other than the APU problem otherwise she would have returned to Brunty I would have thought.
So think positive, things are heading in the right direction to get her permit to fly back.
Good luck to team.

Looks/Sounds like an Emergency to me!

G-Chicken - BBC Regional news quote - After the plane took off a warning light indicated that the aircraft was on fire and the pilot declared an emergency.

The plane landed safely about 4.20pm. It was discovered there was a fault in the system and no fire on board."

What aspect of "Fire Warning" and "Emergency" do you have difficulty understanding?

ground_star 15th Apr 2008 17:49

The aircraft gave a lovely low-level flypast of Thomas Cook's Peterborough HQ on its inbound leg to Cottesmore!

I was just finishing off & going home from TCX land when she flew by - fab sight - shame my phone camera isnt better!!

So... fire warning on take-off... pilot declares an emergency... lands an hour and a half later. What was it doing, burning off fuel?

hurn 15th Apr 2008 23:39

It wasn't a fire warning on take-off, it was during the actual flight test.

They got most of the testing done, but landed early after the warning came up.

Leaving Cottesmore today

Takeoff apparently around 1400. Callsign rumoured to be Marshal01

My local news reporting it was open (undercarriage?) hatch warning light

My local news reporting it was open (undercarriage?) hatch warning light
TV reported and showed one of the undercarriage doors stuck open.

Some info.
