Airbus CEO says weak dollar threatens company survival

Trawling through the internet this evening I came across this:

Weak dollar threatens Airbus survival

The weak dollar is threatening the survival of European planemaker Airbus, it chief executive Tom Enders told workers in Hamburg this afternoon.
Airbus, which is owned by European aerospace and defence group EADS, again warned that its cost-saving plan would have to be more severe to counter the impact of the weakening US currency.
Tom Enders said the dollar's decline was 'life-threatening for Airbus.'

He said: 'The dollar exchange rate has gone beyond the pain barrier.'
And he said that Airbus's entire business model needed reviewing, as 'reasonable processes of adjustment' were hardly possible now.

So why not move over some of the A320 assembly line to Mobile, Alabama?

My employer now renews 737 "classic" fleet with Airbus products, this provides fertile grounds for many Arsenal-Chelsea type arguments. There's a posting on a wall, a cartoon of the two manufacturers in an air trade saying: "Save. Buy Boeing!" / "Buy. Save Airbus!" :ooh: Most amusing.
