Aurigny Off Rwy @ Brs

Aurigny Aircraft Off The Rwy At Brs - A/c Went Off the side and Stuck In Mud - Noticed Another Thread About Ezy At Brs On 22nd! - No Other Details As Yet....

Is BRS Closed? Whats the situation now?

pipertommy 29th Dec 2006 12:36

Must be,taking diversions here at Cardiff ezy 319 landed couple of mins ago.

Dash-7 lover 29th Dec 2006 12:45

Correction - I've just had a divert to BHX - RWY is being resurfaced and there's a slippy patch in the middle that my Captain mentioned is quite smooth and they had 'problems' controlling the aircraft on takeoff with the x-winds......It sounds like the Aurigny a/c hit this patch and exited stage left onto the grass!!
a/c moved off at around 1345 - airfield should be open soon - ATR-72 I think

Why has the word "issue" replaced the word "problem" in the English language?

ho! ho! - though since the Gatwick delays started before the BRS excursion I doubt thats the reason.......the first two delays were before the BRS flight left Guernsey, so something else was up......

welkyboy 29th Dec 2006 16:22

Weather problems. Cross winds at Bristol and Gatwick are causing problems at both airfields, I surmise this was the cause of the ATR going farming at BRS.
It was interesting at Jer this AM 1000ft wind 210/40 surface wind 170/18 QNT30

The BBC (so it must be true...:} ) says the excursion happened while taxiing....I wonder if Bliar was onboard......

2 Tech ATR's at GCI I believe. Aurigny are using ATR42 G-CDFF & Titan 737 G-ZAPM today....

ICING AOA 29th Dec 2006 17:31

no spotters there to share us some pics, what a shame :{

anyway, what was the wind like ?

Stop Stop Stop 29th Dec 2006 17:41

I landed at BRS tonight and it WAS pretty rough!!

I saw a (I think) My Travel 757 make a horrendous approach- it obviously got caught by a gust in the flare and 'wing-rocked' really badly. From my vantage point (in the staff car park) it could well have hit its No.2 engine or RH wing, it looked that low. It went around (thankfully)- did anyone else see it and has there been any further problems there? I trust it landed safely soon after.

RoyHudd 29th Dec 2006 18:00

No 757's left at MyTravel, must have been another carrier.

For photos.

Could it have been a A321 or something? They look much the same and it was dark! The aircraft was moving quite fast, but it did look like My Travel.
