NutLoose 21st Jan 2007 15:49

departed 4.48pm :)

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 21st Jan 2007 16:49

It passed over us, just south of Reading, at about 17:10. What utter joy!! Last one I logged was at the Paris Air Show in 1965, although I believe I saw one at Farnborough one year and also one at Heathrow, but never logged the numbers.

If you want to eat your heart out.... and ATC colleague of mine at Heathrow has actually flown one!!

almost professional 21st Jan 2007 17:35

isnt there just the one?

<<isnt there just the one?>>

Civil, maybe, but also a military one? There were one or two more in the past...

Talkdownman 21st Jan 2007 23:33

It looks like RA-09309 is flying again in addition to UR-09307............

Almost, might be confused with the AN225 the 6 engined beast!

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 24th Jan 2007 15:15

Nah... The An-22 is a REAL aeroplane with propellors!!

treadigraph 24th Jan 2007 15:56

with propellors!!
Lots of them!

Great to see the beast is flying again, freind of mine heard it overfly Worthing (in total ignorance of what it was!) on Sunday. Cen't wait to see and hear it again myself! :ok:

All those of you in the know, please keep us updated as to its movements!

Cheers

AN-22

The amazing AN-22 (UR-09307) is currently at East Midlands (or whatever they call in now) and is due to leave for Toulouse sometime this afternoon..

treadigraph 11th Feb 2007 10:56

I'll have to keep an ear out for it, but I guess it will track rather further to the west than me. :{

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 11th Feb 2007 17:19

RR must be a bit behind. They are chartering a lot to TLS at the moment.

At least they can now use the An-22 (back in service) and the Stage III IL-76 from time to time, meaning a cost saving over using the An-124.

Anyone know exactly what engines travel in them? Are they A380, A330???

captain_flynn 12th Feb 2007 01:07

I think the An-22 has visited EMA a few times this year already. :} My friend took a few photos of it during its visits. You can see them on his site which is..

BYALPHAINDIA 13th Feb 2007 17:49

Does anyone know if there is a Cargo Timetable for NEMA on the net?
Or any Movements for NEMA.

Having not being down to NEMA for a few years I am out of touch with what is flying in.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards.;)

SAM-EMA 27th Feb 2007 20:04

Does anyone here know what the unuusal A321 was parked on the new apron at EMA today. It had a red tail with a white palm-tree on it, but I couldn't get close enough to get a reg. Could someone please help me!

Cheers

Midlands Midnight Flight?

I get what sounds like a large piston twin passing over my house (North Coventry) almost every night around midnight...The noise/sound seems to hang around for ages. Who/what is it?

Another procedure 21st Aug 2007 12:12

Atlantic Airlines Lockheed Electra?

I've always thought that's what it is.

Avman 21st Aug 2007 14:41

Could be anything from the L-188 to an Antonov 12 or Antonov 26. Certainly a few of those operating night mail flights in the UK I believe.

PaperTiger 21st Aug 2007 15:08

Could be anything from the L-188 to an Antonov 12 or Antonov 26.
Not if it really was piston-engined :hmm: . But you're right, it probably wasn't.

Frogga 21st Aug 2007 16:10

It could be the PA-34 that operates nightly out of Coventry to Dublin, takes off around 11:30.

Andrew

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 21st Aug 2007 19:01

If it's a twin, it won't be an Electra or a an Antonov 12 (and the An-12s are very rare in the UK at the moment.)

Might be an F-27 which there are also a few of at the moment - those things make a racket as well.

Avman 21st Aug 2007 22:28

:= Hang on just a minute now! MikeSamuel said: "what sounds like a large piston twin". He didn't say that it definitely was a twin, nor that it definitely was "piston". What Another procedure and I offered were the most likely types currently in operation that may "sound" like "piston" heavies to the untrained ear.

NutLoose 23rd Aug 2007 01:41

There were some from another airport not East Mids in the sky around you at the time....... you can select a time and watch them inflight here... there is a tracking service you can run for East Mids and you just sort of come on the bottom of the map :) they do not appear to be from East Mids as nothing at that time was coming from or going too it...... the yellow ones are from another Airport :)

MikeSamuel 25th Aug 2007 10:40

It'll be the PA-34. I'd know the difference if it was a turbine! :)

What is it doing?

AlphaWhiskyRomeo 26th Aug 2007 11:41

Nightly parcel/mail/newspaper type stuff - returns to CVT a couple of hours later.

Frogga 26th Aug 2007 14:41

The PA-34 Operates nightly flying from Coventry to Dublin with Cheque Books, the flight is operated by Centreline and is parked at Coventry most days.
