Flight Numbers/RT Callsigns
As an occasional monitorer of Malaga Approach, I like to try to identify the origin of incomming flights. This is relatively easy with airlines which use the same flight number and callsign, e.g. Monarch 712 Golf: LGW, Baby 3513: MAN.
Itīs less straightforward when the callsign is different to the flight number, e.g. Easy 6 Charlie Tango, G.B. 46 Mike. My question therefore - does anyone know of an online resource which matches up callsigns and flight numbers? |
Not really a reliable online source but there is an old fashioned resource known as a "book". These "books" were all the rage once and the one you are looking for is "Callsigns 2006" available from the specialist aviation suppliers in the UK which you can google for to save me getting into bother for advertising on pprune.
Good luck.:) |

Stick the full callsign into the "Flight Identifier" box eg MON712G BMI3513 etc Alternatively put the arrival airport ICAO code into the A"Arrival Airport" box, so in this case LEMG (Not AGP!) It only works for flights originating in the USA, Canada, the UK, and Ireland. You seem to be able to get spurious info from Iceland and some South American flights too, but the rest of Europe is a nono unless the flight starts in the UK or Ireland. |
www.google.com
just stick in what you hear ie GBL46M and you'll usually get exactly what you are looking for, I've just done GBL46M and now know its flight number is BA6946 from Gatwick to Malaga, can see there's a full flight plan available to view, know that on one day A320 G-TTOE flew it and was even offered a link to track the flight's active progress. I'd imagine that you can do this for many callsigns/flight numbers. Its a good starting point anyhow! |
Many thanks for the useful responses.

There are some online resources. See the links at the bottom of the post at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airline_call_sign
In case it gets edited out of the wikipedia, I post te links to two here http://www.faa.gov/ATPubs/CNT/3-3.htm http://www.airlinecodes.co.uk/callsign.asp |
