Manston Questions

Was working in Ramsgate today and noted a Virgin A340 G-VFLY doing some circuits. What do they do down there in deepest Kent ? Testing ? Training ? Any ideas ?

They use EMA and PIK regularly as well.

Nearly came to NEMA today instead, since Manston's wx wasn't too good, but it picked up enough for them to continue, so it didn't join the EZY 737 in the circuit after all.

Hehe, probably the same airframe that made me sit around all day when I was trying to do circuit training for my PPL at Manston lol. Kinda hard to maintain 4 minutes separation when you are in a C152 and the damn thing is charging up behind you ;)

well, how else will they test the tcas reaction time, nice slow target hehehe

:) Had exactly the same experience 6 or so years ago, sharing the circuit at Manston in a 152 with a Virgin 747...

What Airlines in the pst have done training at Manston? I know Virgin do because i have seen them, anyone else?

EGMH 14th Nov 2006 18:03

BA, Excel, Net Jets, Shell, Easyjet, Jet2, Flyjet have all used MSE for training from time to time.

Anyone know where MK's inbound flight finally put down last night? It made an approach to MSE at around 11:15pm and aborted the attempt around two miles from the threshold, reportedly due to the high winds. Didn't come back.

Landed at Ostend 0038 Local.

undiemole 20th Nov 2006 19:43

Was that not outside both OST/MSE opening hours ??

EGMH 20th Nov 2006 20:04

OST is open 24/7. MSE occasionally extend till 2300 or later depending on factors..
