Manchester Approach Frequency change
Just a reminder that the main approach frequency will change on 19th Janaury from 119.525 to 135.00.
A further change effecting airways frequencies will happen in February. Scottie Dog  |
Re: Manchester Approach Frequency change
Thanks for that, i didn't realise they were changing the frequencies!
It's been a few years since their last change. Are they changing 134.42 and finally getting rid of 133.8! For some strange reason i can listen to 134.42 clearly, 133.8 on the other hand doesn't transmit over the same range! I am unable to recieve air traffic control transmissions and hardly any aircraft transmissions:confused: Regards James |
Area Frequency change
16th February - 133.40 (Trent sector) will change to 119.525, but I have yet to see an AIRAC that actually includes this change so it may not have been finalised.
Changes normally happen on a Thursday and on a 28 day cycle. Hope that helps :ok: |
Re: Manchester Approach Frequency change
I can hear transmissions on this frequency clearly!
However, with it changing to the current app frequency, i presume they have to do something so that transmissions can be heard on a wider scale? I am therefore hoping that i can still listen to all transmissions when this changes to 119.525? Any idea why i can't hear the majority of transmissions on 133.8? Regards James |
I can hear 133.8 pretty well here up at Durham Tees Valley ;)
|
I dont think 135.0 is in use, ATC have been directing pilot's to 118.575 today in place of 119.525. regards clive.

Superspotter
Read my original posting a little slower.... Change happens on 19th January - my calendar says we are are still on 18th!! 118.575 until 2359 and then 135.00 from 0001 :ok: |
Thanks for the sarcastic reply Scottie, maybe you could enlighten me as to why they decided to use 118.575 for 24 hours instead of a straight change to 135?
|
No sarcasm - just strange humour!!
According to the NOTAm 119.525 was withdrawn at 1200 today.
I presume this was in order that TELS (Telecommunications) could put new crystals into the airport's radios with the amended frequency in time for the change! Hope thats a little clearer. You can see by my wording that I am use to old things (just like me) like crystal radios etc. |
Godamn! Now I am going to have to reprogramme all of my digital scanners twice in 24 hours:)
|
You've got more that one!!!
Oh well, you probably never program it for months on end and then you get the whole year's practice in just 1 day. Now you will know what to do in February for the change of area frequency. That's life ;) |
No chance you could live without it for a few hours.......................?
|
Live without what BOAC?? My scanners? No chance! 7 of 'em here in my loft, one in each of my three vehicles and one in me shed!! Oh, and my Kenwood R-5000..........
|
I thought a Kenwood R5000 was a food processer? I guess that's why my homemade coleslaw was always too chunky!
|
.............and I thought it was a hi-fi amplifier!

On 19th January 2006, the frequency for Manchester Approach will be changing from 119.525 |
It happens for various reasons really - sometimes a frequency clashes with another, not pre-thought, allocation to another airfield or agency. A case in point of this is 133.4MHz - currently used by the TRENT sector - which suffers from dreadful intereference sometimes from aircraft calling a French ACC sector.
As a result of this that frequency will be changing soon too - funnily enough to the old approach frequency - 119.525MHz. Other times it's just as a result of reorganisation of equipment and transmitter sites. |
thanks for that !:ok:

Manchester Approach Freq
Now 135.0 - What was wrong with 119.52 or has it been worn out (again, seeing tower did away with it once already!!)?
 |
Re: Manchester Approach Freq
I heard they changed it due to the fact there are so many frequencies in operation in the MAN area and some have been interfering. Something to do with this:
