Russia resumes An-124 production

Aviastar-SP is resuming series production of the An-124 Ruslan. 36 Ruslans had been produced in the last 20 years.

Volga-Dnepr and Polet airlines will acquire five aircraft each.

The domestic and foreign market for such planes is estimated at 50.

Excellent! I am actually really pleased (no I'm not being sarcastic).

I find a lot of the Russian aircraft fascinating. There are far too many Boeing and Airbus in the world.

Russian aircraft?

Though production is resuming in Russia through Aviastar, Anotonov is Ukrainian, not Russian.

Hope they fit decent brakes (see the IL-96 grounding).

Not really surprising as the current operators seem to be doing brisk business ferrying military equipment around... wasn't there a proposal to build more -225s too?
