Queenstown

Do you need a special rating to fly jets into Queenstown (ala Kai Tak), just experienced a very hairy landing there!

i flew an Archer into q-town a few months back (hard enough, without commanding a jet), and 2 pilots from a 737 walked into the terminal, they looked about 50-60 so i'd say only really senior pilots fly into queenstown, not that i'm an expert.

Also a while back an ATR 72 entered the control zone without an entry clearance infringing the separation requirements for it and a 737

link to the report http://www2.taic.org.nz/InvDetail/99-005.aspx

so the companies involved, probably got senior pilots from then on to only fly into q-town, or at least to educate all pilots on the extra demands when flying in.
