Red Arrows Masterly Avoidance
Eastborne Airshow - Red Arrows one third through a cloud imposed low show when a single engine private plane chugs round Beachy Head and heads into nine bright lights coming at him at 500ft. Well done to the lead Arrow who neatly avoided him , took the other eight over the top and gave the private pilot every reason to change his trousers.
Guess that there's no radar cover beside Beachy Head, so no-one knew what was coming. A bit like the scene from Tora Tora Tora where the lady pilot is suddenly surrounded by Zeros. Quick thinking, Spike. |
I was at Airbourne on Saturday and took a few photos. It's not not for me to say whether rules were broken, but I took this nice pic of a light single between two parts of the Red Arrows display:

Maybe you should post this photo link on the thread "someone's in trouble" in the private flying forum.

I have forwarded the info to the Eastbourne show organisers. Thank you Delta 96.
Happened twice in my time on the Reds too. Amazing no-one 'SEES'! |
