Air Scandic A300s

Can anyone tell me what is happening with Air Scandics A300s, i mean Air Scandic are apparantley getting rid of them and replacing them with DC10s which are about 7 years older, god knows why?

Where did you hear this from? I know it's a rumour on the MYT redundancies thread but have you heard it from someone in Air Scandic as well?

Tommyinyork 29th Jul 2004 19:20

Its on some old topics, i mean theres been lots of talk about DC10s going to Air Scandic. But i dont understand why they replace the A300s with more expensive to run and older DC10s.
I doubt that Air Scandic will get the DC10 from MYT i think they may get an MD11 from Finnair.

Where did this info that Finnair would be providing Scandic with MD11's come from?T here is absolutely NO WAY that AY will sell any of it's MD11's.
They are running their 11's at max utilization and rather than get rid of their airplanes, they would be looking for more. However they might wetlease for a short period, but I doubt that they have the capacity to do that either.

When AY needs a few more, they should go to Mojave...:{

I stand to be corrected, but wasn’t there an issue over the lack of a simulator. The Air Scandic aircraft are 2 man A300B2 or B4. A fairly unique config and only Garuda had a sim. Either no longer in service or no longer approved.

Yes these aircraft are hybrids, they were the last or nearly last b4,s to be built and as such have some bits from the 600,s. The flightdaeck has a flight engs station but it is not used.

How old are Air Scandics A300s, because some people say they are only 1987 built, however others say they are 1984 built, in my opinion i think by looking inside them they are late 70s aircraft.

A friend of mine at Finnair (I believe who own a shareholding in Air Scandic) has said that Finnair is looking into some 757s to provide additional capacity for their own route network for the winter and spring schedules, and that Air Scandic might replace the A300 fleet with 757 or 767 aircraft.
