RAeS Lecture BMI Baby
Is anyone going to the RAeS lecture about BMI Baby on 24th March in Derby?

This lecture will be taking place at:-
Nightingale Hall, Rolls Royce Leisure Association, Moor Lane, Derby. Follow sign posts to Moor Lane leisure centre. Go up the slight hill with the leisure centre on you left and about 100 metres on right you'll see the entrance. Plenty of parking on left hand side. It starts at 1730 but if you get there a bit before you get a cup of tea and a biscuit. It's free to RAeS members and under 18's otherwise just £2.00 See you there MP ;) |
I could give that lecture.......
How would this be -- hypothetically........ Initially tell staff at EMA that the airport can't sustain anything bigger than a few Embraers. The higher capacity Fokker 70/100 has to go -- far too big for the demand. Then hear that Easyjet are moving into EMA. Panic. Rotate entire policy 180 degrees. Copy Easyjet operation to the letter. Same aircraft type (bigger than a Fokker 70/100). Make all staff redundant unless they move to Easyjet style pay and conditions. All "legal", on the basis of baby becoming a "separate company" (which it still is'nt, even now). Don't copy Easyjet rostering (some things demand too much organisation). --------------------------------------------------- It's free to RAeS members and under 18's otherwise just £2.00 |

Short arms and long pockets? MP;) |
No No !
Merely adhering to the Lo-Cost philosophy. :E Can anyone explain how this lecture can be justified ? "We copied Easyjet/Go" is hardly something to boast about, or to require any explanation ! PS -- I assume that any baby employees, in line with the baby policy which denies aircrew any decent provision, are expected to bring their own food. :* |

This lecture is open to the general public. Anyone can walk in off the street with £2.00 and spend a very interesting couple hours hearing how a low-cost airline works. Perhaps, when you have a moment, visit the RAeS website and see just what else is on offer. Was it Oscar Wilde who said: "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and humour"? MP ;) |
Was it Oscar Wilde who said: "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and humour"? He got that wrong, too. |
Hi MP,
Don't feed Trolls, it only makes them come back for more. YS |
I'm not a Troll, Yellow Sun ! :}
I've made some points regarding bmi baby and the advertised RAeS lecture. I may, perhaps, have made those points in a sarchastic fashion, but if you're unable to appreciate the reason for that, then please ignore it and, instead, try to understand the content. The posts are fairly straightforward and easily understood. If I was willing to drive the considerable distance to the lecture, then I might be interested in the lecturer's response to my points. |

Point taken Are you going to the lecture? MP;) |
Isn't Baby modelled on Easy, which in turn is modelled on South West in USA (Allegedly)?
I've got friends who fly for South West, they do things very differently to Baby! A lecture on a partial copy of a copy......... if only crewing would give me some time off! |
Quite a few people copied the Wright brothers. They made aircraft that flew as well!
Some did it better! |
How about a little light hearted speculation as to the title of the lecture....
how to bleed your mummy dry... will I ever get out of nappies.... don't take away the soother.... a pint a day keeps the doctor away... when are you going to sell... Get me another ops director quick !..... Any other suggestions..... |
Good ones Fuzzy112 -- you're obviously someone who knows the facts. Some of the previous posters speak from positions of ignorance or nil experience of the baby reality. I very much doubt that the lecture will enlighten them any further.
So is anyone going to ask the lecturer about the bmi Mainline redundancies / job changes / lesser conditions of employment / loss of salary / move of house, home and family to another part of the UK ? Will the lecturer give the real story ? Or will this be a polite listen to propaganda ? Anyway, for some lonely souls with pointless lives, it'll be an evening free of her indoors, no doubt rounded off with a trip to the pub where they can all act like best buddies. Enjoy ! Make up for those who actually have to work for baby. |
