Ag Aircraft Regos
I flew VH-DDT, and it's sister Pawnee spray plane VH-TOX, many years ago off the old Kununurra ag strip. Most of you would recognise what DDT was, but TOX stood for a delightful material we used - called toxaphene. Sigh........the smell of cotton spraying in the morning.......... happy days, |
Saw one today inbound Liverpool....DIXXX :ok:

A former flying school down here at Bournemouth used to have pale pink aircraft with a picture of flying pigs on the side (not a way to give confidence to students!). They had G-OPIG and G-OSTY. The latter is a C-152 that is still around here, though it has been sold and repainted. The spook on the tail turns it from a sty to a ghostie!

Ones that readily spring to mind are:
G-DYOU G-DTOO G-DCAN G-DFLY the Pa.38's of BA flying club a good number of moons ago. Wellesbourne have G-DONI - Don 1? We also have Islander G-WOTG at Weston-on-the-Green near here. G-SARO a Skeeter. G-DUDZ and G-DUDS were owned by Dudley Patterson. There was G-BLAG Pitts at Popham but it was a single seater... And weren't the Tipsy Belfairs given food like reg with G-APIE, G-APEA and G-AOXO or something like that. One that took a second glance was G-HIJK at Oxford. OAW |

seen G-BJOB, G-RAIN (Maule) G-COLA, G-RVIP, G-TBIO (TB10) |
I was once told that certain regs cant be used, such as G-IGOD, because of references to religion. Is this true or was i being blonde and naive?? Does anyone actually care?

Yes I think that was the case back in the 50`s and 60`s as the use of certain conbinations were not used on the UK register Golf India Bravo |
Agreed - If you look through the old registration books at the time various potentially "rude" or offensive registrations were missed... eg those ending in VD.
Other fun/odd registrations I've seen... G-RFSB - on a RF-5b G-PSID - on a P-51D G-XLIV - on a R.44 G-IIAC - on an Aeronca IIAC.. G-BCGC - the "Royal" Chipmunk used by Couldrose (I think it was) Gliding Club There are loads and won't bore you with more... Too late someone cries!!:ok: OAW |
I did my aerobatics endorement in VH-CUM, a Decathlon. Nearly did a couple of times too :}
What about the old British Midlands 737-300 G-OBME..... |
How about these few I saw ... G-GETT G-AAAA G-FUKIN G-LIFE
