Cathay 216 MAN-HKG strange route

Anyone know what's happening with this one? Just came over my place very low and on VHF I am certain I heard "fuel dump".

CX216 strange route

CX216 recently taken off from MAN to hong kong has just done a tour of Lancashire at 6000ft. Now over the Irish sea going west at 12000.
That doesn't seem right!

Dumped fuel off the coast near Southport and came back in. At one point the pilot apologised to ATC and said "sorry, it's a bit loud in here..!" Sounds like a few alarms might have been going off...

When he came over my place at about 5,000 feet he was under what seemed like full power. One engine out perhaps?

"LIVE / INCIDENT: Cathay CX216 Manchester to Hong Kong (Airbus A350-1000 B-LXN) is dumping fuel over the Irish Sea prior to return to MAN due to inability to retract landing gear."

I can't post a link, but there is a video available on YouTube showing the takeoff followed by what looked like an attempt to retract the gear. It tries then gives up very quickly.

Unless the UK law has changed (which it may have, so happy to be corrected ) it might be worth exercising a little caution in reporting pretty much verbatim what you heard over the airwaves...

OFFS. This isn’t Russia. Anyway, Police here are too busy handing out tea to climate protesters and dancing at gay pride marches.

China ,India and the US emit more pollution in a day than most of the rest of the world in a year
