Boris in Ukraine

Interesting RAF movements to accompany the news that British PM has been in Kyiv today. First of all the KC2 that is sometimes his personal transport flew out of Brize and did this over Poland,

At the same time an RAF RC-135 spent from around midday BST to 20.00 BST doing this.

Then another KC2 out of Larnaka did this before disappearing off both FR24 and ABD-S exchange at around 19.30 BST.

The RC-135 was refulled by a KC10 at 19.55 BST after which both disappeared from FR24 and ADB-S Exchange.

Anyone got any idea how Boris got safey to Kyiv in the first place?

I think they are displaying on FR24/ADSB EX what they want us(and Russians) to see. Wouldn’t worry about secrecy too much…

Good grief, PM flies to war zone. Never happened in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Two Typhoons launched from Lossiemouth and later disappeared on ADS-B somewhere over the North Sea. Presumably they gave Boris an escort or did they go somewhere else?

The three flights shown are business as usual. I think that since the start of the war, there were at all times one or two tankers on station north of Warsaw and same north of Bukarest. Sometimes NATO A330 MRTT regged in Netherlands, or US KC-135/KC-10 in the north, and RAF A330, Italian 767s or KC-135 in the south. Currently, KC-10 (NCHO135) has taken over on the station north of Warsaw, RAF ZZ330 shown above is circling at Brasov, Rumania. It relieves a Luftwaffe A400 (GAF656) that has spend the daytime there during the last few days, and a US KC-135 (LAGR250) is also heading home to Spain. Another tanker is often in the air over the baltic states. I guess they all support fighter patrols that are dark on ADSB.

On the intelligence gathering side, a US or RAF Rivet Joint patrols the baltic and Polish borders pretty much every day, sometimes together with a Joint Star. A Swedish Air Force Gulfstream has also done this ISR job quite a few times during the last two weeks or two. There was also an N-Regged Challenger with the Artemis ISR system that I didn't notice in quite a while, usually as BRIO68. Another US Rivet Joint sometimes comes from Crete, with a HOMER callsign. And there is probably also a US Global Hawk from Sicily over the Black Sea currently, like most nights. They usually go dark when they leave Greece.
That all been visible every day on adsbexchange.com

The "Larnaca" KC2 should more likely read "Akrotiri". A Voyager has been seen over several afternoons/evenings from Cyprus, occasionally a pair of Typhoons are visible accompanying it; presumably a CAP package over the southern Balkans.

And "Anyone got any idea how Boris got safey to Kyiv in the first place"? - Zipline!

And I thought Boris in Ukraine was a lesser known Tintin story.

It could also be an Opera, vis "Nixon in China". But only in a minor key.
