Here it was in better times. It always looked to me somehow too small to be an actual Hunter. I now know it is, but used to think it was a half-scale model.

Positioning that Woking Hunter into an out of position must have made the crane-driver and riggers sweat bullets!

Well, I wasn't assuming that it might have been one of the experimental VTOL Hunters that preceded the P1154. I realise that that was a false assumption.

My previous comment should have be accompanied by a of course!

Did your hair get parted by the RAF Atlas inbound Northolt a short while ago, noted it close to Biggin and popped outside but it was further east than I had realised.

FR 24 came to rescue on trying to figure out noise above the clouds in fgrome today, fair amount of military activity but mostly hawks and this had a far deeper stronger sound. FR24 had it as 2 USAF F15s Shark 31/32 playing at tailchasing over Frome at about 14000 feet , a couple of wide orbits but both tracks crossed right over the town -although a few miles apart . Not seem/heard that sort of USAf presence here before and wondered what they were up to.

later in the day RAF Herc belting along very very low, FR 24 showed altitude/height as 250 climbing to 350ft . certainly looked extremely low as it sailed by heading for Brize no doubt, a great sight. I assume there is some sort of limit on height above terrain for military flights , . Low level Hercs are not uncommon but this was exceptional . Very hard to judge height above ground as frome is something of a funny shaped town being ina valley surrounded by low hills-upto 400 fr amsl, where my house is which rapidly drop down to flat lands about 100ft amsl which is where I saw it from and only .a mile or so away. A fun view from the flight deck I am sure

QNH this afternoon was about 1025, so you need to add approximately 350 feet to FR24 altitudes to get a true height AMSL.

Presumably that's a reference to an RAF RC-135 ?

Chipmunk out of Yeovilton this AM. Or, at least, that's what Feedar said. What I saw was a T-6 and a Stinson Reliant in a loose formation joined for a moment by a Moth. Never saw the Chipmunk and it should have gone over my house at the same time as the Texan/Reliant!

See post #2068 for a possible explanation.

Ah yes, the Stratomunk! Anyone else remember the Stratogasp advertised for sale in Flight International about 40 years ago, spotted by an eagle-eyed Uncle Roger and duly noted on the Straight and Level page?

Funny thing about that Tintagel crash is I have no memory of it from the time - it must have made the news!

Reaper N190TC flew down from Lossie yesterday evening and spent the night patrolling the Straits of Dover, RTB'ing about half an hour ago for whatever a drone's version of The Full English is...

Hmmm, C-5 heading my way and the sky is temporarily blue... fingers crossed!

A fine sight sailing past and looking suitably big... A quick glance of my mil files shows I only saw half a dozen of the C-5Bs before I gave up spotting... this one would have been a new!
