EP-3E heading NW through France just passing to the east of Paris - looks like it should pass over Kent, presumably en route Mildenhall or Prestwick. Think weather too hazy for a glimpse from South London, plus the build ups for this afternoon's thundery showers are under way...
An acquaintance in Essex said that they saw an A380 taking off out of Stansted earlier this afternoon. Anyone know what that might have been about ? Ryanair proof of concept test flight ?

Emirates A6-EVN apparently, departed 1415. Looks like en route Dubai...
Apparently it was due to take Arsenal to Miami for a match - until a couple of people tested positive for you know what... heading home instead.

Blimey! That was an expensive cancelled charter flight....Maybe I shouldn't be surprised that it was deemed ok to jet off to the USA for an exhibition match, but all the same...

Looking back around 1800, it appears to have been a drone operating in the area just west of Draycott Farm and east of Wroughton.

WHBM, almost certainly - I noticed it clipped the NE "corner" of the M25 and carried on NW past Prestwick, presumably bound for Keflavik.
Just saw a new shape in the sky - PC-24 inbound Heathrow. Quite noisy, first time I've seen one close-ish...

I was looking back on Planefinder about 11.30 I think - could see the Spit but the Mustang didn't show up; did you see it on any radar site?
Since moving west I miss the interesting stuff that goes low level west of the Bagshot mast heading around the LHR zone., small but very interesting like a Corsair, JU 52, BBMF spits etc
But there are occasional goodies down here like today, an RAF Herc flying fast and low over Frome around 0845 . Interested know height since I would have guessed they use 1000ft minimum but is that above ground or sea level . Noisy fast low and menacing in dark gray made my dog walking ladies jump. Perhaps he was trying to find an alternative to Brize and their runway debacle as we get a lot of C!7 Atlas and C130s inboaund and outbound from brize but usually between 600 and 8000 ft .
Just going back to Brize for moment if anything sums up UK today its that, the entire Mil transport fleet at one base with one runway and its tarmac and gets too soft when its hot . Review all the options and choose the cheapest and least useful, unless the supplier went to Oxbridge with a cabinet member in which reverse it.

When I first started visiting South Somerset before I retired here I was on the A303 heading home to Berkshire and overtaking a truck which sounded very loud only to realise a pair of very low Hercs were overhead.
I've not seen a pair since but I do see singletons occasionally apparently following the railway from Castle Cary to Westbury (I've seen them in both places at low level).
We seem to get A400Ms fairly frequently (at least once a week). When they first started appearing I mentally accused them of doing a test flight to Yeovilton for lunch such was the time they appeared out and back at relatively low levels. More recently they've been higher (the last one was at 10k ft) and I've not seen the return often.
Being close(ish) to Yeovilton and their helicopters they provide most of our traffic but we also get ETPS aircraft doing a range of manouvers.
Not the same as nearly 60 years in the environs of Heathrow!

It's when the Mustang's in your six o'clock ya gotta worry...
HArtington
Here, Frome we also get the ETPS Hawk and Tucano , often noise only. BZZ inbounds and outbounds with mostly the musical Atlas but smaller numbers of C17 and C130s . So not like the skies around LHR hence myexcitement with the low flying Herc.
The one yesterday wasnt following the railway but it might have picked it up shortly after and flown down south.
Lot of Heli traffic long the railway , Presumably Salisbury Plain /War minster to Westbury then follow the railway to Yeovil. Living on a hill for the first time in my life also changes things , a few evenings ago ona very very clear evening a tiny pinkish gold contrail showwed on FR 24 as a UPS 747 headed to Germany. It was just crossing the Welsh west coast when I first saw it probably over 100 miles away . I do miss LHR but now there are no more 74s there are basically two types small with two engines 737/320 big with two engines 777/350/787/330 not a lot of variety
