Snoop Interesting Week!

Lady spotter new to this site. Interesting week for spotting from my home in North Birmingham. I also write blog for a spotters site so always on the look out for something interesting.

Today had two Typhoons out from Coningsby. Only showing one callsign, RIOT0001 on Flightradar 24. When I went outside to have a look there were two and they were very close together! They overflew BHX before heading to Worcester/Evesham area. On way back, there were still two... Love the military call signs!

Electricity pylon and cable inspection helicopter very low. Can spook you if not used to it.

On Tuesday morning, had Cessna 152(?) taking great interest in me pegging out washing. Wasn't on FR24, couldn't quite make out registration except G- due to sun position.

Pair or more of F-15s just went north over me - noisy! Also attended the D Day event!

Welcome Poshgirl, missed your post on Friday.

Cavok AN12 has just droned over Akro Towers here in the Dales making its way southwards. Shame about the cloud cover but a great noise though.

Kamov Ka-32, with registration HB-XKA just flew overhead us here in North Kent sounding very like a Chinook!

Here's what it looks like:

I heard the F-15(s), well I'm sure most of the South-East of the UK did, they were very noisy, way more than the regular Typhoons of late transiting the London airspace. How many do we think there were all in all ?

A quartet of F-15s I should think. Lots of USAF C-17s shuttling between Mildenhall/Culdrose/Newquay/Ramstein - another one climbing out of Newquay now, saw him coming in earlier. One just airborne from Fairford too.

Amused to notice a "glider" apparently soaring the Surrey Hills at 640' and 58kts. On closer inspection it has been following the A31, A3 and M25 with remarkable accuracy, so my conclusion is, it's firmly shut away in its trailer en-route to another soaring site or it's a paraglider of some sort. Either way, the battery is on...

Edit: left the M25 at Reigate... Heading into Reigate, maybe they do paragliding at Colley Hill or Buckland.

Edit 2: Now on a second circuit of Reigate one way system. Oh, I know that feeling... Watching it on "spot the gliders".

Edit 3: Blast. In Upper West Street Car Park. Oh well, time to go and collect my new glasses...

Edit 4: Must be in a bag... now walked dow to - it would appear - the Pilgrim Brewery shop!

A Parasail or whatever they're called ? The kind where you sit in a harness and launch off a sloped hill. French call them Parapont, whatever that is in Engleeesh.

Either a paraglider or a paramotor, or just one of the new portable EC devices. I don't know anything about them.

I've seen a couple of supposed formations with two aircraft i/ds transmitting but only one aircraft has actually appeared over me swede - presumably being flown by somebody who prefers his own portable kit to the permanent installation but hasn't entered the i/d of the aircraft he's flying.

Seems to have been a few French AF aircraft heading N-S over London in the last hour or so, a Xingu and a Herc, perhaps another Xingu.

All part of the Midlands Air Festival at Ragley Hall. Based themselves at EMA for the weekend (as far as I can tell they are still there!). ANARCHY1 was its flight number for the displays. Had a nice surprise as it drifted over on Saturday afternoon (sadly without the afterburners on) on its way home, then got a repeat sighting on its way to the display on Sunday afternoon (passing directly overhead).

The ADSB flight tracking looks amusing - might see how long i can replicate that on flight sim next time (before i crash!)

ADS-B Exchange - tracking 9774 aircraft (adsbexchange.com)

By the way, this was the Typhoon that's had its tummy painted in union jack colours. Looked good from beneath (even with the hot day haze)!

Are my cataracts playing up or did I see a Hurricane this morning heading north over the Yorkshire Dales? This would have been about 10:15 heading NNW abeam Grassington.

BBMF Hurricane did a flypast up Carlisle way in company with the C-47, so entirely possible...

"Sleepy Joe" arrives at Mildenhall on Wednesday evening, then meets PM on Thursday. Sure NQY will have already started getting ready for all the arrivals incoming over the next couple of days.
