Looks like one heading into Rota now - looks like it's been "bombing" part of southern France NE of Toulouse - or plucking up the courage to slip beneath the Millau Bridge! Wondering if they are the same pair that flew over London two days ago.

Belgian A400 CT-03 just landed at Gatwick from Seville.

Edit: just saw the A400 climbing like stink out of Gatters - crossed the M23 at nearly 12000' after a climbing turn off 26L!

Pair of Typhoons have done an out and return to southern France, just zipped over here - not a peep filtered through my windows but I was out walking during the trip south - amazed I didn't hear them, or take notice...

Re all the above posts re Typhoons and KC-46 and B-52s......The Typhoons are taking part in exercise “Atlantic Trident” which is based around Mont de Marsan,France. The Typhoons are operating out of Coningsby and basically their “targets” are over Southern France/Northern Spain so they are supported by Voyagers from Brize. Also involved in this exercise are USAF F-35’s operating out of MdeM. This exercise goes on till 28/5.

The KC-46’s are operating out of Mildenhall and taking part in exercise “Astral Knight” which is being held over Italy/Greece...they route out of Mildenhall using “Pack” callsigns along with some of the based KC-135’s using “Lager” callsigns.

The B-52’s x 4 are operating out of Moron,(not Rota), and are on a “Bomber Task Force”,BTF global deployment out of Barksdale AFB. Looking at some of their recent missions, they have routed up over Denmark,Sweden,Norway,so could possibly be routing over the UK there/back,....these deployments sometimes last 2-3 weeks,....let’s hope the weather here improves!

Hope this info helps somewhat

Thanks for the info, Chinooker - it would be good to the B-52s if they route over London again!

EC-130H 73-1583 just routed westbound over London. Looking it up in my old log (which lives under my chair!) I saw it at Woodbridge in February 1987... I recall HC-130s there, presume it was a visitor.

French KC-135 just routing south via Seaford.

Woodbridge had HH-43s into the 70s, then HH-53s which I well recall, as well as the HC-130s which sported the Fulton recovery system. 67th ARRS. The only HH-43 I can recall seeing was at the Midland Aircraft Museum...

Many thanks for that.

I spent some of this AM looking at Frightradar wondering what one of the RAF's finest Voyagers was doing heading southbound towards chez nous near Toulouse with a couple of elements (?) of Eurofighters in (very) long trail...things became slightly a bit more clear when the Voyager took up the hold not far from Mont de Marsan...

We were just to far away to spot anything "in the metal" but we've certainly seen some odd contrails blown eastwards from that area this AM ( odd as in stuff going around in circles rather the standard straight line civil air transport stuff).

IIRC all the USAF bases in the UK at one time had a couple of Huskies for crash rescue.

Two Typhoons came over Great Yarmouth reasonably low around 1035 local today. Heading generally west around 1500 feet.
Nice to see - please call again!

At an Alconbury airshow in the early '70s a Phantom had a leg collapse on landing. By the time the Huskey was airborne there was a crane and low loader in position lifting the aircraft off the runway.
I think the flying display was delayed for about 15 mins.

Perhaps as a quid pro quo for the Voyager's outing over France, a French Air Force C-135FR tanker was active over Essex at lunchtime.

Just gone over again - crap weather as usual, didn't even hear it but I was inspecting new varnish on the stairs...

Cessna Caravan, N215BT also just zipped over below the clag - quite an unusual type round these parts...

For the moment it seems to be a regular thing for the two IL-62's to be doing the same route, so hopefully it will be 5/10ths or less in the next days and you will see your Ilyushin sir!
