Lots of heli's and this lot earlier flying low-level over Essex towards London. Lots of cells around this afternoon. Glad they got in on time for their display!

Tons of radio interference causing comms issues and long delays at the stacks due to the horrible weather. Glad I'm not flying today..

The flypast looked pretty impressive, although sparse and seemed to be very disciplined in the windy conditions. As others have mentioned it was pretty grim not so long before the 1pm Mall flypast, lashing down with decent gusts and thunder and lightning, yet for the flypast it was blue sky at least near SW1.

They were very fortunate with the weather window. Just a few miles away at London City, at the precise moment of the flypast, a sudden cloudburst and wind, and thunder all around.

On television the A400 looked notably close to the rear of the A330, though doubtless at a different altitude.

An interesting track just south of Calgary a couple of days ago:

It was a hail-suppression King Air flying along the front of a Cb as it advanced north-eastwards. These aircraft use a very appropriate callsign - HAILSTOP.

Here's a screen shot of the hail-suppression radar, from a little later. The yellow numbers are the cloud tops in kilometres and the red ellipses are the predicted tracks of the cells. The white line is the King Air's track, heading towards Sprinbank airport for refuelling:

They never have done so in the past, so I see no reason why they would want to do so this time - and it's a bit of a detour.

Colleagues of mine used to go up there to rearrange the countryside a little - testing the integrity of blast resistant structure designs. For a really big one one of them went to Woomera

Interesting aircraft we are NOT going to see appear to be Boeings at Farnborough. Just a Qatari 787.

Post 4527 kind of makes mine seem not much then, a lonely Apache seemingly let off the lead for a day out over the East Anglian countryside. Finishing up over and around Wimpole Hall a local National Trust property, lots of hills and tree lines to hide behind, down quite low but it was nice to see him/her whatever an Apache is termed as, dodging around and get home and follow it back on FR24 to the ex Lightings base, that’s all.

Qatari S-92 just drummed over here - missed it though, I was a-kip! Out of Stansted, seem to recall they do overhauls there.

And a Lear 35 D-CAPO which seems familiar from spotting days 40 years or more ago* has just gone over underneath the alto-cumulus. See it sports delta fins, wasn't aware they could be retro-fitted. Nice to see tip tanks rather than winglets.

*Maybe more recently, it emigrated to Germany in 1989!

Seems to be a definite uptick in heli traffic over London these last days. Just remembered Royal Ascot is on at the moment.

Blimey, Honewell's 757 N757HW just went over, apparently it has an aerodynamic thingy mounted on the forward starboard fuselage for mounting test engines and boasts a legend about testing mustard seed jet fuel... Number five off the line, formerly with Eastern and on the UK register for a bit.

Also a Navy Merlin, big whoppy-copters are the order of the day...
