A pair of Osprey A/C around 16.30 3 miles East of normal Pennine track and noisy. Jus got back from Manchester Airport to be greeted with that noise which is not insubstantial.

Cheers

Chilean AF C-130 just droned over southwards above the clag, outta Waddington. Presumably in conjunction with the E-3D purchase.

A lovely low snoring noise just dragged from my post-breakfast slumbers (coffee going cold), was it me? No, a Polish AF C-130E skirting the southern borders of London and heading into Brize. Showed up beautifully against the cirrus.

Heard a vague grumble while inside yesterday, it was one of the Biggin Spitfires heading down to Goodwood, following the M25 and passing over the M23 junction - good 10 miles south, amazing how far the Merlin's sound can travel considering all the competing noise hereabouts. Saw another of their residents was airborne yesterday, single seater MkIX LZ842/G-CGZU which has been flying for about a year - one of the hulks recovered from the Salt River scrap yard in Cape Town 50 odd years ago... Yet to see it in the flesh.

Those Polish Hercs were originally FY70 USAF aircraft, sold to them after being taken out of storage and refurbished using the centre wing boxes from scrapped C-130B's. Hmmm.

FL18? Are you sure you don't mean FL180?

Just spent a good half an hour staring at four Ospreys wings folded. Behind them half a dozen Seahawks. And apparently somewhere in between a Super Huey, couldnt tell for sure. Eventually got bored as only thing moving was a guard and some poor sods painting the hull of USS Kearsarge.

Apparently there is a hot air balloon drifting south over Sutton a couple of miles to the west of me. Although I'm ascending quite rapidly in a bus, hedges, houses and his altitude of apparently obnly 350' havd rendered it invisibule.... it's heading towards Highdown and Downsview Prisons at Banstead, an elaborate escape plan perhaps...

Also in the vicinity of the late PPRuNe Pop's home...

A Worthing mate texted me earlier to say he had just been disturbed by an AN-12 groaning its way southwards! I've not heard one for a while now.

Canadian C-130J earlier...

There was also a rare-ish (nowadays) USAF E-3B out of Mildenhall which overflew Central London just after midday on Friday.
