The AN-225 flew over north London yesterday on it's way to Shannon. The blue patches in the sky might have let it be visible, if only I'd had a clue it was coming! Oh well, another time perhaps.

Lovely sound to the left Spitfire G-AWGB visible in the distance ,busy earning keep, while directly ahead one of 615 VGS's Vikings has just got off the top a good launch from Kenley in the breeze, against a lovely sun enhanced cloudscape - chiaroscuro I believe it is called. Good to see them back.

I saw the Tiffies out of Lossie earlier, presume they are off to the Med somewhere.

Bangladeshi and Kuwaiti C-130Js on air tests out of Cambridge and an Indian AF C-17 coming up the Western Approaches off Cork - not just COP26 attracting interesting military visitors!

EXS8HQ overhead the Lizard now, FR24 reckons it’s routing Alicante to Malaga. Clearly not taking the direct routing 😂

It's that time of year, again.

Changes from Summer to Winter schedules (which started yesterday), and vice versa, typically confuse the flight trackers because alphanumeric callsigns often change at that point.

What you saw (depending on whether it was going north or south) was probably LS129 GLA-FNC or LS130 FNC-GLA, using an alphanumeric that was previously assigned to an ALC-AGP flight.

Edit: Looks like that alphanumeric is actually used for LS174 FAO-GLA, and has been for the last few years, so I've no idea why FR24 has got confused.

Just got my first glimpse of the AN225. Spotted it on FR24 heading my way at 36000ft and with clear blue sky I thought I might make an effort to have a look with binoculars. Didn’t need them to know which one it was because even all those miles away it looks so different from everything else. Got a glorious view with binoculars - the sun shining in the right places to see every contour. Well worth the effort!

Saw it on FR24, didn't recognise the registration for what it was, and didn't look up as it passed.

I saw it, straight over the top of central London. Lovely looking in the sun and blue sky! Sadly I didn't manage to get a photo worth showing even myself. Should be heading back this way tomorrow morning, who knows maybe blue skies again ?
