It's a C-130, but not a C130 (though Tunisia has those, too).

Specifically, one of its two C-130Js, so the flight-trackers ought to show it as ICAO C30J.

A Gulfsteram 650 flanked (closely) by 2 piston singles (Extras?) at 3000', here over NW Essex, heading north towards Duxford.

A most welcome, not everyday sight.

Now, who might know what that was all about?

I've read elsewhere that this afternoon US-owned P-51C Berlin Express and P-51D Hun Hunter returned to Duxford from Switzerland where they've been based for a couple of years. May well be what you saw, lucky chap!

I saw this too, blocked from FR24 but eventually landing at Biggin Hill - anyone know any more? The flight originated from Dijon.

I guess around 4:00 pm. I heard the piston engines from within the house, their “unsynchronised beat notes” drew me out to see what it was.

Ashamed of myself when I realise I might have mistaken 2 P51s for Extras!

Easy mistake-a to make-a!

Can't see them on Plane Finder but the owner of the Mustangs has (I believe) several Gulfstreams at his disposal...

The Gulfstream was probably N1F.

It's been at Biggin since 25th June, departed just after 10 am yesterday southbound and arrived back from the north just after 6:30 pm.

That's the one I was expecting to see on Plane Finder and didn't! The other is N1TF for the late patriarch of the family.

A Swiss Air Force Challenger into Biggin Hill. I wonder why it wouldn't be at Northolt ?

Bombardier Service Centre at Biggin Hill might be the lure?
Good point! I had only considered it's military/govt role and therefore Northolt seemed the obvious choice.

It's showing up on ADSB in the vicinity of the old Surrey Aviation/Fairflight hangar on the SE corner of the airport at the moment - is that now Bombardier?

Are you sure it arrived today? Other reports suggest it's actually been at Biggin since mid-June.

Answering my own question, it was confirmed as landing at Biggin around 07:45 on 15th June. A Swiss AF PC-24 made a brief visit at lunchtime the same day, presumably acting as a crew ferry.

It looks like it was powered up on the ramp at Biggin today following maintenance, hence its brief appearance on the flight-trackers. At a guess, we'll see another PC-24 visit sometime in the next few days with the crew for the return flight to Belp.
