An-225 & -22 not active?
Since Autumn 2018, the Mriya (An-225) and the An-22 (reg. UR82060 & UR09307 respectively) have no activity whatsoever.
Does anyone know what's the status of these two?

The 225 was definitely in maintenance when I passed by Gostomel late June. I also heard that there was not much demand for it (ie not that much unique cargo that could only be transported in the 225).
No idea what is happening with their sole 22. Not sure it is economically sensible to keep it air worthy.

An AN22 visited Farnborough in (I think) 1986 bringing a new engine for the AN124 after it had a compressor surge on takeoff for its first display. On arrival, the AN22 mistakenly lined up on the display line markers (dayglo boards) instead of the runway; it corrected very late and left substantial amounts of rubber along the edge of the runway from its sideways landing.
I went on board the '225 when it was at Farnborough (1992?) and was invited up to the flight deck. Nothing unusual except the FE station had an armchair instead of a fixed seat!

Someone questioned recently if there were plans to finish building the 2nd 225, the answer came back that there isn't enough work for the 1st 225 so no need for the 2nd one.
Both have been checked, structurally repaired and repainted and have been busy on several occasions. So they can be considered "active".

1988 I think, went down to see it. What a beast!
A visiting Mod Plod video'd it from alongside me and gave us a copy; ATC Farnborough shoild still have the tape.
These guys make some impressive aircraft.
I visited Hostomel last year and the 225, and a couple of 22s were there.
The An-22 has the same poweplants as the BEAR. Once heard, never forgotten.
