How many flight sectors have you flown in one day as a passenger.

Spectators Balcony (Spotters Corner) If you're not a professional pilot but want to discuss issues about the job, this is the best place to loiter. You won't be moved on by 'security' and there'll be plenty of experts to answer any questions.

How many flight sectors have you flown in one day as a passenger.

My record is 6, kirkwall-Westray-Papa Westray-North Ronsldsay-kirkwall-Edinbugh-Birmingham. I also managed 5 sectors in France on Caravelle 12, Dassault Mercure, A300B2 and 737-200QC aircraft.

Done a few multiples as a passenger in C152/C172 in the US - probably 8 or 9 was the most with several touch and goes at lesser airfields and longer stops for coffee/lunch/wee wees...

I have to go back to September 1981 when I flew 7 sectors in a day. They were: ABZ-EDI-LBA-DUB-LBA-AMS-EIN-MST. All sectors were flown on one type, the Fokker F-27. Five with Air-UK and two with NLM CityHopper.

LGW-BWI-MCI-OAK-LAX-HNL-KOA

CDG-FRA-SXM-SJU-BGI

Both of these marathons were the result of getting 'bargain' priced tickets and being too excited by the savings until the true cost became all too clear! The 7 sector one wasn't evident on the ticket, only showing the 3 flight numbers, that was a lesson learnt.

end of March 1980 coming home to UK after a months leave (I worked for BMA on our 707's at KHI leased to PIA for a bit then took my leave, ended up in the exotic Maldives)

Male-CMB UL 737-200 Air Lanka just been formed (late afternoon) got F U/G

CMB-KHI PIA DC-8-53 leased from Cargolux LX-IDB (landed middle of the night)

KHI-DXB-FCO-FRA-ORY-LHR PIA 747-200 (ex TAP bird) Got F U/G at DXB

(We left KHI at 07.30 and got to London early evening, so almost 24 hours travelling)

(came down from KHI to CMB on a PIA 720B)

All on free tickets

1984 Hong Kong-Singapore-Jakarta-Bali-Sydney-Melbourne. Overnight, same Qantas 747 throughout, top deck. Cockpit visit between Sydney & Melbourne.

Loved flying into Kia Tak a few times.

Gatwick - Guernsey for a meeting in St Peter Port
Guernsey - Jersey for a meeting in St Helier
Jersey - Gatwick - Dublin for more meetings there

Only 4 short sectors but a full on day of work mixed in with several trips through security. Granted, this was pre 9/11so much easier

ABZ HUY NWI and return.

Several times.

On one occasion for two sectors in an F27 jumpseat courtesy of a cousin. Nice.

1969; Oslo, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Zurich, Lisboa, Caracas, couple of Carribean Islands (can't remember which ones), then finally Curacao.
OK, so not 24 hrs, around 36 if memory serves. Never had so many meals in such a short time.

May'95 LGW-AUH-BKK-CGK-DPS all on Garuda, same 747-200 as far as CGK, then DC10 to DPS.
Left LGW around 7hrs late and then around 21hrs en-route!

This was start of RTW honeymoon - rest of route was CGK-DRW-CNS-AKL-NAN-HNL-LAX-LHR.

Mid/late 70s. LHR/AMS KLM connecting to Garuda AMS/FRA/ROM/BAH/BOM/BKK/JKT connecting to Garuda JKT/DPS making 8. If I'm to be honest that last flight might have taken it over 24 hours but I can't remember.

Hartington, I honestly don't think that you would get all those sectors inside the 24hr window.

Perth, Morawa, Yalgoo, Mt. Magnet, Cue, Meekatharra, Wiluna, Sandstone, Mt. Magnet, Yalgoo, Morawa, Perth.

Very junior F/O, usually considered a passenger???, 3 crew, often left one engine running, always in summer for first and last light at Morawa.

Refuel and re-oil at Meekatharra, with the "nicer" Captains was a great way to learn.:

ok:

Once flying ATL-ABE-AVP the pilot said: "We are departing Atlanta for Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton and Wilkes Barre-Scranton-Avoca. Believe it or not that is only one stop".
