Well, I've had a little gander into this Barry Michaels chap, and yes, there are striking similarities between his early 1990's effort, and today's Atmosphere Intercontinental Airlines.

This well sourced Wikipedia article wraps the whole thing up quite nicely:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Airlines
For those who treat Wikipedia with a pinch of salt, here's the Washington Post similarly going at it both barrels late last November:- https://www.washingtonpost.com/trans...ching-fares-s/

The story of Family Airlines/Avatar Airlines should really act as a warning to Jason Unsworth, that when the law catches up with such fantasies, it isn't generally very nice, and causes problems in the future.

Do you think we might start a separate thread for Barry Michaels or Family/Avatar airlines?

I looked at the FAQ on starting a new post but I seem unable to do so.

I don't think it will require a new thread to be honest. I can't see there being much discussion on it (certainly not from me, others may think otherwise). The link between Family/Avatar Airlines was simply to highlight that there are other examples of this kind of behaviour going on and drawing parallels between the two.

The big difference here, is that Family/Avatar actually raised significant amounts of money. That hasn't happened where Atmosphere is concerned, and certainly the sort of avenues that had been available to Family/Avatar are not open to JU.

Indeed, it is somewhat disconcerting, to say the least.

I'm trying to get my head around this latest news. JU is pretending to be Jet Airways, and speaking on their behalf?

What new heights of delusion is that?

Medical intervention and/or legal intervention is becoming more urgent.

You'll never manage it TA! He's just so wayyyyyyyyy out there you'll never do it!

Mind you, I wonder if Putin and JU have chatted on this? Does Putin realise what he will have to contend with? If you are wondering, there is discussion of the Far East Asia Development Fund getting involved now. No idea how true that is but, if so, our JU and Putin will be ..... bedfellows so to speak! We all know JU will claim to be an integral part of any rescue deal should one ever arrive so Putin will have to get used to the fact he will be "bezzie mates" with JU before too long.

Sorry, TA, if I have just made things a whole lot worse for you re figuring this all out!!!! If I were JU, I'd back right out at this point but, of course, I'm not JU so we will see! Ho hum......! H 'n' H

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it yet but apparently the boy wonder has 'bidded' for a 4th time for Jet Airways, something he has promoted under a new Twitter name and tagging JetAirways2020 in the text.

On behalf of the whole team at Atmosphere we apologize for the delay of our restart. In view of the recent opportunities we are pleased to also put in a bid for a regional UK airline and combine their operations this with JetAirways. Our first Southampton based 777 is due to fly to channel islands in the next month. Tickets will be on sale at your local Primark or our CEO's grandmothers house.....

Look on the bright side, with his Primark contacts he may get enough knicker elastic to stand in for the steam catapult....

Our hero also seems to have lost control of the atmospherairlinesuk.com website.. If you follow the link from his Twitter you go to GoDaddy which is offering to sell it to whoever wants it.

mmm, the reason he has been so quiet is that he either took his medicines lately OR that he is negotiating to buy Norwegian!

Here is an easy-to-use checklist when bidding for an airline:-
1. Use a home address, preferably a terraced house in Essex. ✔️
2. Use a mobile phone nr ✔️
3. Include a website address that doesn't work, for a non-existent airline ✔️
4. Mis-spell your own name at the end of bid✔️

Well Done, what could possibly go wrong?
