Don't pass jets have an axe near the cockpit?

Watched 'United 93' or 'flight 93' where the pass look for anything to clobber the new airline staff with.

Don't aircraft (pass jets) have an axe near the cockpit for emergencies?

Or am I getting my modes of transport mixed up?

I can see many instances why they'd be superluous.. but there's a few circumstances the'd be useful.
