5/9/09 fly past at BHX has been reported on other sites, expected at
around 15.40 but all subject to change no doubt.

I know this sounds pretty unexpected, but strong rumours that the A380 will make an appearance at the Northern Ireland Airshow at Portrush on 5th Sept.

From another site, these are the airports that will get a flypast on the 5th September:
Edinburgh 1340
Prestwick 1400
Port Rush Airshow 1420
Belfast City 1440
Broughton 1508
Birmingham 1540
Aircraft will be flying from/to Toulouse and not stopping anywhere in the UK for "trials"

Manchester misses out again then?

tommy,
According to the Bristol Evening newspaper the A380 will land at Filton at 1615 on Saturday afternoon (5th) after its tour of UK airports.
It will remain on the ground before departing for Toulouse at midday on Sunday 6th September.
A380s have been popular amongst the general public on previous visits to Filton so a small crowd might gather to watch this one come in now that it has been given local press publicity.

As it won't be landing at the other airports, or as it appears from comments elsewhere, can't land due to combinations of runway strength limitations, taxiways too narrow and nowhere to park up , other than publicity what exactly is the point of burning all that fuel to go up & down the UK?

Folks, when they say "flyby" is that exactly what it is? One lowlevel flyby and bye bye?
Considering driving up from Dublin to have a look, Portrush would be a bit of a stretch, but could defo do Belfast.
Is it worth my while?
