Did i see a DC-10 ?

Casting an eye across the LHR 27R flightpath at 20.55pm this evening 20th July, i was suprised to see the form of a DC-10 gliding down towards the airport. It didn't appear to have winglets, which would preclude an MD-11. Whose was it ?

The inner spotter is curious as you don't see too many of them these days.

Thanks

SHJ

No tri-jets this evening. The closest heavies to the time you talk about were an SQC B74F and a COA B762.

With due respect point5, even though i had had a couple of glasses of Pimms courtesy of friends this evening, I saw a tri-jet, the third engine clearly on the tail with the fuselage of a McDonnel Douglas wide-body and 2 underslung wing engines

It's different profile was what caught my eye from all the other generic shapes that grace LHR daily. It would have landed at 21.00 approx. Perhaps it was a freighter or a flight coming for MX or non-scheduled

BTW i also 'spotted' an SIA A380 around 19.00hrs coming in. I thought that they only used the 380 for the early morning arrival (pre 6am) ?

Regards

If you want tri-jets, come on over to Brize! We have Aunty Betty Airlines vintage Trimotors and vintage DC10s provided by 'Cheapest Bidder US unfriendly Airlines'. Lots of 'em

It's gonna be in twice on 4 days of the week, so I've heard - the early morning flight, and one at 1910. Unsure which days though

Yes it was a DC10 on that day you mentioned and about that time. I was sat out the back of the Premier Inn Bath Road Heathrow when it landed. Dead sure it was DC10..............it said so on its arse-end, can't remember which airline other than remembering it was of African origin!

That being the case, perhaps it was one of those Avient machines that normally hang out at Vatry in "La France" doing a sneaky run into the UK to transport 'farming equipment' to the dark continent.

That being the case, was 'the other day' yesterday ?

On a photography forum I go on to someone had photographed the Biman DC-10. Apparently the Biman DC-10's will be making more appearances at LHR in the coming weeks/months.

I spotted one coming over my house Wed evening - pretty sure it was Biman BG015 from Dhaka although I couldn't tell from underneath. A special thing now to see one of these over London!
