Youv'e seen St. Maarten - try St. Barth's

On a recent trip to St. M, I was very lucky to get r/h seat to St. Barthelemy and back in an Air Caraibes Grand Caravan.
I am still thinking WOW

I hate that word awesome, but this is like a rollercoater ride

Lining up for dep from Rwy 10

Just airborne over the beach - some pax had had to pay excess baggage

In the left turn

I recommend this trip to everyone

And I just had to get back on the beach

Stunning pics GK430!

I will be in St Maarten in March this year and this would be an awesome addition to the holiday if it was possible!

How did u go about organising the trip? How much it cost, and how long did it take etc?

Matt.

Matty - Just do it as they say!
I was only there for 3 hours but no regrets.
Try the Winair or Air Caraibes or St. Barth's Commuter websites and see where the deals are.
Obviously the Caravan has the front seat if you don't look like you'll kick the rudder peadals on t/off
Winair use the Twin Otter and BN-2 (was speaking to an Otter pilot and he says the view is great from the front pax row.
Not sure whether you can get a front seat in the BN-2.
Air Caraibes did a great deal on their www. but not for early dep from SXM and late dep from St. Barth's.
Air Caraibes www. is in French - I risked my former O'level standard and I managed to go on the right day! And for the right price! Actually we left early and arrived before we should have departed
For approval to use St. Barth as a pilot, you have to go in with an instructor from Grand Caisse on the French side of St. Martin - as opposed to Juliana on the Dutch side.
If anyone knows an e-mail address for the fying school at Grand Caisse....please let me know - I just have to make an approach to Rwy 10 at St. Barth's from the L/H seat!
Rwy 28 would be okay...but I can respect the guys that land on 10. There are 2 windsocks on the hills either side of the app to Rwy 10 - and don't they blow all over the place.

Go and enjoy!

We are aiming for the roundabout

And here's an Islander coming over the roundabout!

Edit by BOAC to correct the image posting I'm waiting for the 'is it safe to land there with both engines stopped' post

GK430,

How about a picture of the Islander from the back of the pickup truck next time?

Hi misd-agin - I tried to get on the pickup, but the driver said "NON!"
I might have the one from the MACK truck though - I'll look later
LATER
I have been looking again at some of the recent pics and recall ducking hence slight FOCUS aberration and shaky hand....

Engines out on the BN-2 BOAC... yes, yes, I woke up to shutter speed - but Practice Forced Landings in a single - come on!

Strewth - were the sun reflectors on the front screens too!

What a start to the holiday

Having posted this lot, I know how she feels - did I pass this time BOAC....
