Airshow Planes Collide in New Jersey

They always seem to happen in threes.

Midair tragedy in Jersey - NYPOST.com

Last year, not including military, balloons, helicopters or aircraft with less than 7 seats there were 1,115 fatalities. If you include everything it is far higher. They do not come in threes, they never stop and planes usually crash every day. It is just noticeable if you look for the three.

These from the past few days. Its a sad fact of life, machines are not perfect and neither are people, I wish it were otherwise.

What a change to see the New York Post using "aerobatic manoeuvres," compared with the UK press "stunts."

It wasn't an "Airshow", if you read the original article it sounds like one pilot was practising in a designated "aerobatic box" when another pilot flew thru it in a Lancair.

I wonder what happened to the CTAF radio calls?

Usually you'd have someone on the ground while aeros are being flown with a radio to avoid this type of tragedy.
