What's it all about?

So what are we supposed to talk about in here then? Religion and sex are cover well in Jet Blast, so that only leaves politics, but I guess that is covered by the ZZZZzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ thread. So what else could we talk about?

Biggles Flies Undone 4th April 2001 12:49

I scoffed some sort of pork in red-wine thing, with spinach and rice. Actually quite good for Swiss food.

(Belch).

I trust that you gourmets have had a chance to study the fine menu for the Gatbash MkII at the the Gatwick Thistle Hotel on June 9?

Please refer to the entry by my learned friend IFR in PPRuNe Bashes Forum for full details on starters, fish courses, main courses, cheeses and desserts.

Look forward to seeing you there, and you too Flypuppy!! No excuses, no heel-taps!!

cheers

SS ;-)

Seeing as this is a forum about Non Air Transport Issues, would anyone care to correspond about...yachting?

I am seeking a workshop manual for a Finnish-built 1949 Vire 6hp marine engine which sometimes runs in my 1909-built sailing yacht.

The engine has become extremely cantankerous and refuses to start at the most inconvenient times: ie when trying to get to a pub before closing time when the wind drops.

It needs a good strip down and rebuild but I am reluctant to do so without first studying a manual. A PPRuNe chum in Finland has been trying to find a Vire manual for me, but because the engine is so ancient, such books are no longer in print, even in Finnish!

The alternative is to get a marine engineer to do the work at vast cost.

Cheers and yo ho ho

Stan Sted,

Have you ever tried to find the manual for a microwave oven two months after you bought it? I rest my case.

Flypuppy 9th April 2001 16:17

A yachting forum? 'fraid I cant help you with the engine manual either.

I really do want to be at the GatBash in June but the cost is going to be prohibitive. Sorry http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/frown.gif

I really really am sorry, but I will be at the December Bash (assuming there is going to be one of course)

BTW I had Singapore Nasi for lunch today, very tasty.

Flypuppy

Being in Holland you must have a bicycle, so why not ride over to the Gatbash.

Foot passenger and bicycle would be very cheap on ferry from Calais to Dover and we might be able to arrange a tow or lift for you from Dover to Gatwick.

If you bring your bagpipes on the pannier and play at the bash you will assured of free beer all night, then instead of booking a room you could crash on one of the bar sofas ( assuming it is not being used for 10W's musical sofas game).

Worth considering surely???

cheers SS
