Here We Go Again - Fuel Shortages !
 

On my way to work this morning the 'boys' are back protesting outside Bramhall Oil Terminal about fuel prices and 1/2 mile down the road the locals are queueing for petrol.

I am sure that the petrol companies wind these guys up when sales drop off so that the public run out and buy up every drop of fuel and the petrol companies make another fortune.

What I find particularly interesting is that there is a brand new X-reg. Mercedes C-Class parked in the middle of the protest : now which poor transport operator does that belong to ? If fuel prices are so crippling, how come he can afford it and how come he can afford to spend his time standing on 'picket lines' when the rest of us in the aviation/transport business have to work our asses off just to pay the mortgage ?

I agree fuel prices are too high but their method is sheer madness and if not stopped will bring the country to a grinding halt again !

Here we go ,the hauliers/farmers self interest coming out again.I wish my industry got the subsidies the farmers get.I wish we got paid for not working (set-aside)

Can't quite work out the farmers involvement in the fule protest. I was under the impression that the fuel used on farms was exempt from duty anyway so what's their gripe?

Personally I'm glad they're protesting, it's about time the people of this country let the government, any government, know that we are not always content to sit back and be dictated to. If these protests succeed in lowering fuel prices then surely we all can benefit.

Just another example of one sector of the population holding another sector by the b*****ks.

Yes! Fuel prices are far too high and will continue to be so as long as the government continues to use them as a political weapon in the run up to the next election. This lot could be sorted out in a week if there was the will from both the government and the oil companies.

Oh! I nearly forgot the farmers. Perhaps they should keep their gobs shut and stick to listening to "The Archers"

If they cut duty on fuel,they would only put another tax up.At least with fuel you can control the amount you pay (up to a point)

The UK has had high-taxing, high-spending governments for too long. Why do governments lack the balls to stop wasting money on silly and inefficient projects? Is it really sensible to have a 300 per cent tax rate on fuel?

I understand that there will be an election soon.
