Hot Air Ballooning
Can anyone give me any information on being a hot air balloon pilot? I've tried searching the web but can't seem to find much information. I was wondering if you can make a career out of it in the UK or if people just have it as a second job. How much money can you earn with it?

Answers as I see them:-
To avoid 'advertising' I am PM'ing you with the first 'hit' on UK balloon pilot training from Google! (How hard DID you try?!! ) You will need a licence ie it costs YOU money Probably not enough in it for a 'career' Any 'ballooners' here to comment? |
sorry for lateness of reply - don't visit this particular forum often -
see http://www.bbac.org/ for full details. HTH, Andy Mac. |
Yep, I fly balloons however I've taken this year off as I'm busy getting a divorce. Any single female pilots out there ?.... oops, wrong thread.
The BBAC should be able to put you right as will Cameron's in Bristol. Check out their websites and if you call Cameron's, ask for the lovely Hannah as she will know the details of your local club. If you haven't developed a propane habit, you will be blown away with your first flight if the pilot does some "tree skimming" over a forest or does a "splash and dash" in a lake. My best memory is having breakfast at FL105 over Hungerford (just legal) looking at the Isle of Wight. Crossing the Severn was pretty awesome too. Discovering that RAF Wellford isn't just a "disused airfield for navigation purposes only" on day 2 of the Gulf war was rather fun. :O Enjoy ! |
Specific information
What about Balooning in Africa? Are there some "universal" regulations or can anyone fly? Specifically Kenya.
