Model plane makes Atlantic crossing

Yesterday, around 1400 hours local, a model plane landed in Ireland having taken off from Newfoundland some 39 hours earlier...

More details here...

and here

The flight covered a distance of around 1883 miles and I hear it landed with only 2oz of fuel left.

A fantastic achievement and congrats to all concerned.

Sorry - I didn't spot this thread already exists.

Good job it wasn't built by BWoS - it would either a) never have got airborne or b) landed in Greenland!

I think a remotely controlled B29 flew the pond in 1945???

Though it was not an airplane, the U.S. S. Ohio (battleship) cruised around Chesapeake Bay in 1919 under radio control. But still needed stokers I bet.

First data link from air ground/ground air was aboutthesame time.

Nice touch landing it by the Alcock and Brown memorial. Well done to all those involved, something to be proud of.

PS shouldn't this be in jet blast, or private flying. No one's going to see it here.....
