That does sound good.

Do you think they will have any units left by the time I get there in mid February?

Sensei 20th Nov 2002 20:44

That's a tough one to answer I would say 50/50 chance one thing for sure is I don't think you won't get nearly as good a selection if you wait that long.

Desertour 21st Nov 2002 03:02

That's an absolute fact it's always first come first serve.

Old age does not just thicken the arteries, it makes the whole being thicker too! Viz this question that will undoubtedly collect a whole raft of responses advising me that it is a BGO!
If more than one party purchases a property here does each persons share have to amount to $180000 in order to qualify for permanent residency?
Tax rates in this Sunshine Isle currently amount to 5% for expats but when "we" achieve membership of the EU (2004?) this will change and we are researching alternative tax-advantageous options in the sun where hopefully the price of a litre of local brandy can match the current $5! But that is not the only (or prime) parameter up for consideration although it does come into the equation.
If self buys place does that qualify Mrs self for PR status? And any junior selves? Or is it $180K per person?
Help would be appreciated; thanks in anticipation. No roster until 15 Jan next year, so a visit may be on the cards if favourable conditions.

To answer your questions:

A US $180,000.00 purchase will provide Permanent Resident Status (PRS) for yourself, spouse and dependant children under the age of 21.

Individuals or party(s) can purchase 2 or 3 bedroom units and in the case of a 2 bdrm (which is basically a studio & 1 Bdrm unit) two separate familys will be issued PRS with the 3 bedrm upto 3 families could be issued PRS.

We have a number of purchasers buying units together.

If you interestred in coming down for a visit please give us as much lead time as possible as we are virtually full through March.

We actually have some PPRuNers arriving from LHR on Jan 19/03

mobius 21st Nov 2002 22:39

So if 2 guys buy a studio or 1 bedroom only 1 will get Permanent Status?

Desertour 22nd Nov 2002 01:41

That's correct but think of how little that deposit is with a couple of guys.

747pilot 22nd Nov 2002 13:42

I leave tomorrow Sat Nov 23rd for a 4 day visit to Castaways Cove from everything I 've read on this thread I'm really looking forward to it. :D

I think I'll be there on Tuesday with a couple of more guys.

I'll look you up at the Resort.

Ridley 30th Nov 2002 04:40

You guys must be having a blast down in the caymans, no body has posted in a while. Either that or your all in the air.

If you can, get some pilots who've gone down there to post their experiences.

Danny says he will in January, but it'd be nice to hear from some of the PPRuNers you've got down there now.

Enjoy.

I think you're right Ridley. There were a whole bunch of us down there. We had a great time, golfed the Links at SafeHaven, did a reef dive, a wreck dive and stingray city, all in one day. Got in lots of sightseeing, great meals. All in all, a first class visit and project. Several of us are looking to go back shortly after Christmas.

How do we find out when Danny's going?

It'd be nice to hook up with him when we're down there.

Ridley 3rd Dec 2002 01:41

You'd have to ask the big PPRuNer himself.

And you might want to ask him what he plans on wearing on the beach, if its a thong, that might alter your travel plans.

Skygirl1990 5th Dec 2002 15:41

Just heard the new Beach Grill and Bar you guys put in at the Resort is a big hit ...... care to comment.

Island Boy 5th Dec 2002 16:19

The new Thirsty Surfer Internet Cafe and Liquor store opened last month as did Castro's Beach Grill and Bar, serving light fare and drinks right on the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

Happy Hour Specials are available daily from 4-6 pm. The Barefoot Man still entertains live upstairs in the air conditioned Castaways' Restaurant every Tuesday & Thursday.

We had one vote to name the BG & B "Danny's Place" I wonder who that was from.

checkpilot 6th Dec 2002 01:44

Planning a trip to Castaways towards the end of Jan can anybody tell me when Danny's planning on being there it would be nice to meet him.

747pilot 8th Dec 2002 19:58

I heard he will be there around the 19th of January.

Ugly Jet Captain 10th Dec 2002 03:22

Any US airline guys got a gouge for getting there? How is it to JS in or non rev loads in general?

Experiences or opinions appreciated.

mach90 10th Dec 2002 16:01

UJC

Normal Alpa JS policy in effect lots of service from Delta, Continental, American, US Air, Northwest.

NR loads are seasonal but peak is usually around 80% so generally no problem.

Cayman Airways will usually allow you to JS on a full flight but you generally have to buy an ID 75 but usually they will issue it right on the spot which is a good back up. They currently operate out of Houston, Miami and Tampa.
