Ownership of aircrafts by flight schools
Hi,
is it common for flight schools to own its operated aircrafts, or are they rather to lease them in most cases? Thanks for replies. |
Nobody knows? :-) The reason I'm asking is I'm looking for companies lease smaller airplanes to flight schools. I need some information about for my diploma thesis.

Have you tried doing some "proper" research?
Trawl the internet looking for flying training schools, and look at the pictures of the aircraft that they use. Search for the ownership of the aircraft. Do a companies house / 192.com search on the school and the company/person listed as the owner. WTF do they teach at Uni nowadays? Is asking a question on here really regarded as research? |
Many schools - (in the US at least) have their aircraft on a 'managed lease'.
The owner basically has the aircraft managed by the school and receives a fee per each hour flown. The owner remains responsible for maintenance etc. I need some information about for my diploma thesis. |

Ok look at the all the registations on a Schools fleet, go to the CAA site GINFO, (google it) if the fleet has several owners, chances are they are leased in, if they tend to be one owner or registered to the company, then your question is answered to that as well.

You could try talking to the like of Air and General (if that's what they are still called) part of Close Brothers. They are specialist in aviation finance and they can give you some ideas.
Also speak to the flying schools directly. |
