SPECS Cameras
Be warned...SPECS cameras are now up and running on parts of the M4.
These are digital cameras (no flash) located in overhead signs that record your number plate and work out your average speed between cameras. Triggered at 78 mph. No radar beams for those of you with dashboard gadgets. In operation now between J12 and the Membury Svcs (J14/15) and more to follow soon. Beware and pass on. Rgds, CFC. |
Could just drive the legal limit, then you don't have to worry. Too easy?
|
But not much fun!

From the official Thames Valley Police website:
---------------------------------------------------- "There are NO speed cameras and NO SPECS cameras in the signs! The only involvement Thames Valley Police has is to change the messages on the signs according to the conditions to give up-to-date information. This is done via our control room. The signs are owned by the Highways Agency." --------------------------------------------------- Clear enough? |
SPECS Cameras
Same rumour now doing the rounds for the M27 on my home patch, also false.

Anyone seen anything on the M1 - i have seen the lines on the north bound carriageway towards leicester forest nr EMA.
Also if you travel over to Manchester from Sheffield there are cameras on the A616 that record your speed using a distance speed and time method so of you slow to 60mph for the cameras (national speed limit road) then up to 70mph then down to 60mph for the camera again you will still get caught. Beware if travelling from M1 jct 35A/36 to Manchester using Woodhead Pass. Jinkster |
