PAL Aviation School 2013 Question?? Need help guys.

Hi Guys,

I'm done with the Final Medical Exam last month but still i'm waiting for the result.

1.) I want to know if how long does it take to know the result?
2.) What if I failed the final medical exam. Does it mean that I need to repeat all the step including the initial, pyschomotor and pyschological exam.

Also, let say I passed the exam, what is my chances or percent that I will be part of the upcoming batches since we know that I still need to be in the ranking.

Thanks :D

Hey bro flycodes!

I am one of those applicants last October orientation. Sent you an email. Please check. I am still scheduled for the final medical exam tomorrow. I need your tips! :)

Hi Flycodes,

From what I remember, those applicants who passed the process, but not included in the top 15 or 16, will be deferred to 2nd batch which is on the 2nd quarter of 2014.

Hi guys,

im planning to try it with PAL but it seems that the process is too long. What do you guys think of OMNI? thanks

paolylo 10th January 2014 12:15

if it's the long process, i think PAL is worth the wait. i hear they have been interviewing for Limited-SO positions from OMNI, but they'd still be behind in seniority to the general aviation flight instructors and the Av School graduates (SO's upon hiring). the fact that PAL is hiring from another school means they need pilots. this wasn't the case years ago when an Av School graduate would wait for over a year before getting a call from PAL because they didn't have enough aircraft and didn't have enough pilots retiring (or resigning) to hire new pilots.

if money is not an issue to you or your family, consider enrolling at any flying school (i recommend OMNI) for your CPL+IR and then an Airbus type-rating will get you an interview with any of the low-cost carriers. by the time an Av School grad finishes, an Airbus type-rated CPL+IR holder could already be a regular FO with PAL Express/Cebu Pacific/AirAsia Zest/TigerAir PH. not a bad deal especially if there are options after the contract expires.

with PAL, your career is pretty-much straight forward after Av School. SO, narrow-body FO, narrow-body Captain or wide-body FO, wide-body Captain. i envy my colleagues who went to PAL Av School because they'll get those opportunities without having to switch companies (unless they have a reason to do so). only the privileged can be an airline pilot these days. even Air Force pilots, unless they're jet-rated, have to wait in line flying ATR's or Bombardiers before they can fly jets for an airline here. flying schools only differ in these things: equipment and instructors. the Av School have doesn't have a problem with either. ditto with OMNI.

Sir paolylo,

thanks for the heads up! Im just wondering though, would you happen to know exactly if in the recent batches graduates from PAL Av went straight to being SOs with PAL? I mean, is it common for most students to end up in that position ? Should it be so, do you think it'll be sustainable in the coming 3-5 years?
Albeit their common reminder of no employment guarantee to prospective enrollees, I think it would be interesting to know the whereabouts of their recent graduates. :)

paolylo 11th March 2014 05:19

i can't speak for PAL since I'm not affiliated with them, but as far as I know they've been doing the same thing for a very long time. only an idiot would think it's possible to jump to the FO's seat of a PAL jet straight out of Av School. even gen av pilots who spent a lot for an Airbus type rating and apply at PAL (not PAL Express) still start as SO's just like the Av School grads.

it's up to their management to find out if the Av School is enough to sustain their airline's demands. from what i've heard, they've even increased the flight time requirement of gen av pilots applying as SO's to 400 hours and the narrow-body FO's have to be wide-body FO's first before getting command time. that's good news for the Av School cadets as far as getting in PAL, not good for them if they wanna stay with PAL.

Hi Friends,

Is there anybody here who is not part of the current Alpha Batch 2014 but joined the selection process last quarter of 2013 and expecting to be part of Bravo Class 2014? :}

Kudos!

andrewwiggins22 2nd April 2014 03:34
