Korean Recruitment - Rishworth vs TAS vs CCL

Hello,

As Korean seems to be starting recruitment again - does anyone have any advice regarding the agencies - Rishworth/TAS/CCL. The good/the bad. Who is best to apply through?

Thanks,

HUTT

All the agencies are the same. They basically facilitate the hiring process and process your salary.

Beyond that, they offer nothing. No support and more than happy to toss you under the bus to appease KAL.

Covid showed how useless they were when the expats were shown the door. No compensation and coerced everyone into accepting a force majeure clause under pressure of not being recalled.

Some points to consider before applying are how the expats were treated during covid and even during the recall. Some guys were recalled, only to be terminated during training for medical issues without allowing for follow up.

The Asiana merger is still in play. However it goes, there is a real possibility of laid off local pilots and that doesn’t look promising for expat pilots.

TAS hmmm

Was told by TAS they will not proceed with my application because I am a us citizen. Was kindly rejected by the agency before even proceeding to send my app to the airline. Looks like TAS doesn’t like US citizens 😢. CCL and Rishworth seem to be more open.

Only my 2 cents if you consider applying in koreanair...

The level of uncertainty for expats under the total lack of management and protection and the continuous fall in terms and conditions, are making this once fantastic commuting job, a nightmare for those who are still here.
It is not a secret that more than 60 % of expats have decided not to come back after pandemic, and that many, after rejoining in 2022-2023 have decided to quit after few months.
The airline does not make any effort to mask the subtle racism towards expats, same applies to the local pilots community which has never, and never will, like the presence of qualified and very experienced group of foreign Captains.
It is a recent news that a "safety bonus" has been paid only to local pilots without any announcement to the expats community, and this goes along with the fact that no significant incident or accident has happened to any foreign captain...

The expat management team is practicing an everyday exercise on how to shrink or cancel any benefit still available to the expats pilots like FOC tickets, once confirmed in JC, and nowadays stand by in economy class, newly (and out of contract) introduced rule restrictions on number of annual leave/Days Off, restrictions on flying back home in a different airport situated in the same union (eg Europe or US);

these are only few example but the future doesn't look bright as the only (still) qualifying highlight of the expats contract is the possibility of asking days off 2 months in advance and normally they are approved straight away but, there is a but, we already saw the company asking to move or reduce days off in times of high request....and this can happen easily also in the future.

Rostering is still acceptable on all fleet except B777 where people are flying steadily 90 hours a month without any respect for minimum rest between 2 long flights or, worse, east-west ultra long haul flights.
The level of fatigue is increasing exponentially and such a big company does not even apply a fatigue resource management. Simply reporting fatigue does not exist, you need to report sick...

I applied Korean through TAS and got some helpful info and 1-on-1 advice. Things seem to have changed a lot, especially since this is the first round of selections post-pandemic. Best of luck with your interview!

I've heard that everything has changed, from the application form and interview format (group interview now) to the SIM data.

Any news about the updated format, questions and what to expect from people recently attending the screening with KAL?
