Layover in Japan
Hello,
I'm a French cabin crew & I have a question regarding lay over in Japan. Is it mandatory for a crew to stain in the hotel premises or can you go out freely? If so, since when aren't you confine in your hotel? Many thanks & fly safe! |
I was just in Narita layover, and we were free to move about Tokyo. I think we had to wear masks on public transport and show our vaccination certificates at some places

Thanks Motley Flight Crue for your message.
Could you tell me for which airline you work (you can send me a private message if you prefer). What about crew from European companies (LH, BA, AY)? |
General background note.
Everyone in Japan still wears a face mask in public, indoors or out, with few exceptions. The mask is removed only for eating and/or drinking. |
Last year yes. This year you can go out, even take public transportation. Just bring your pasmo / suica, passport and shore pass in case train station police randomly ask you and for tax free. Mask all the time except for drink, eat, smoke.

could you tell me for which airline you work? |
