Brookfield is looking for A320 crew for Vietravel. Any thoughts? Methinks t&c-s are similar to covid19 terms of VNA, Vietjet and Bamboo...however as far as i know the country is still closed for foreigners. CAAV pilots who are in Vietnam at the moment might have a chance.

I called the agency

They are asking 10.000USD to "make all the papers you need " to go to Vietnam...

Salary 2000 USD for CPTs basic with 50 hours, then 30 USD per Hour and day worked

Oh dear that doesn't sound too good :uhoh: Do these costs only apply to expat pilots? Would like to know how a Vietnamese citizen could pay this up.

The Vietnamese border is closed to foreigners. So how is $10,000 going to change that?

Everything about Vietnam is corrupt and dysfunctional. It's a 3rd world country; that's just how they roll.

You hand over 10K to a Vietnamese, good luck ever getting it back if things don't work out.

Are you referring to the Vietjet P2F pilots taking selfies of themselves stuck outside of Vietnam? They're sitting at home waiting for Vietjet to drop the axe on them...

They seem to love approving every rich guy's airline in Vietnam. SGN and HAN already operate at max capacity. Bamboo is alredy in shambles but some other bozo thinks they can do a better job?

Are you referring to BAA? They were linked to ATrans to deliver P2F pilots to Vietjet, among other agencies and individuals who had the right "connections" with people inside the Vietjet training department (wink wink hush hush... here's your share of the "black money").

The problem is due to Covid foreigners cannot enter Vietnam... the border is sealed shut... and foreigners probably won't be allowed into Vietnam until late next year or later until the Virus is totally under control, even with a Vaccine. Vietnam is paranoid about Covid. They evacuated all foreigners from Da Nang over like a single reported case of Covid a few months ago... That was extreme.

From what I read, the focus now is on getting local Vietnamese cadets into the system since they're already in country and don't have the border problem, and because locals are generally preferred over foreigners.

Can confirm. I contacted them and gave them a call. IIRC Vietjet was 75k USD and Bamboo was 85k USD. Have to pay for your own line training too. Asked them about the career opportunities afterwards. They said they can speak to their connections within the airlines and get you a job. Surely this price is for foreigners because there's no way an ordinary Vietnamese Cadet could ever pay that amount?

The total cost for Vietjet is around $200,000 USD for foreigners. It could be less if you went to a CAAV approved flying school for your CPL and IR.

The current batch of VJ cadets who bought their way in in late 2019 are still sitting at home due to the border closures. I would imagine the stress and anxiety for them must be overwhelming with all that money on the line... money they could very easily never get back if VJ decides to pull the plug.

The vj price has increased a lot since the beginning, they used to charge 18K back in 2013/2014, a bargain!!! 😏😏😏

The greed really set in at Vietjet. There are a group of internal workers in the training department and their "friends" who act as intermediaries (basically "agents" in a way) who are getting quite wealthy off this P2F program.

Even the CAAV (the government aviation ministry) is getting their fingers in on the action with the money they want from foreign pilots to get their school "approved". It's a cute way of essentially strong arming $20,000 out of wannabee cadet pilots.

What amazes me is that the owner of VJ allows this to go on.

She doesn't personally profit much off it, and yet she's basically allowing institutionalized corruption to occur in her organization.

Maybe it's different in Vietnam, but corruption is generally considered to be a bad thing because it exposes your company to liabilities and risk, not to mention it just makes you look bad.

They have to put the local cadets flying soon to avoid another suicide, Filipino cadet jumped from a building, poor boy full of expectations and debts!

As sorry as i feel for the above mentioned cadet my opinion is that there is no place in aviation for people with suicidal tendencies. Proper psychological testing/checking is a must for current and to be pilots as we are talking of potentially hundreds of lives at stake if people with mental illnesses are allowed anywhere near an aircraft. Job losses due to covid19 or whatever, debts, etc. are simply no excuse.

Easy for you to say if you have not lost your job yet.
