Peach Japan NTR Captains
Peach is hiring NTR Airbus 320 Captains.
They offer commutable contacts but doesn't list the rotation times. Anyone have intel on this opportunity? Thanks in advance |
Its not actually included in the contract, however a block of 10 consecutive days is available each month.
|
Interesting if contract is better than advertised - that'd pretty much be a first! - Peach flyers quoting 16 days within 2 months for commuters.
Skymark, Spring J and J*J appear to offer 10 consecutive per month. Always make sure the magic word "consecutive" is used. Cheers |
16 consecutive days within 2 months was never in the contract either. That option stopped being available about a year ago. The recruiting companies need to update their “flyers”. |
OK my bad, if updated policy then should be correct in "flyers" if the agencies want to present Peach in the best light, maybe even some ad spin: "back to back possible but not guaranteed..." or similar.
Personally looking a contracts the 16 within 2 months Vs 10 consecutive per month was a consideration. Maybe just me. Cheers |
How about the Medical? Is difficult as they say or are these just rumors? |
If you have something wrong with you medically it will be found. Max BMI is 30. Easy to fail the initial medical.

Does anyone have any information about the written exams one will have to do to get the Japanese ATPL? Are these done during the screening phase like in China?
|
Japanese Airlaw only. Candidates are placed on a course for a few days to prepare as part of the initial induction training.

Hi,
Reading about the benefits at Peach, I noticed there are National Health Insurance and Pension Scheme. Does anyone have more information about how these two benefits work? How good is the coverage? Thank you |
Subria
what exactly do you mean by coverage? Health Insurance basically covers medical fees by around 80% of the scheduled cost. So if you visit a doctor / dentist you pay a small fee if you have a health insurance card. System is not really designed for use outside of Japan. Pension also is basically designed for domestic use, however their is some facility to withdraw contributions when expats leave the country. Not really sure about the details about how much can be withdrawn or tax implications. |

As I mentioned I dont really know much about the pension system. My understanding is when reaching retirement, pensions can only be deposited into a Japanese bank account. If you have left Japan and no longer have any residency then you cannot continue to hold a Japanese account. So for a foreigner taking as much as you can when you leave seems to be the only option! Keep in mind this is your money anyway as a monthly “pension insurance” fee will be deducted from you salary. Its not what I would consider sufficient to sustain retirement though! |

How are requirements for expats being relaxed ?:
“…and the priority after the Vanilla Air integration is to speed up expansion and pilot recruitment, CEO Shinichi Inoue told ATW…” “…Inoue said Japanese regulators are becoming more relaxed with the rules for hiring foreign pilots..” https://atwonline.com/airlines/peach...+Daily+News%29 |
Pay is up to a third less than JJP, SKY and AJX. Less than 1.0m per month after tax and deductions.
Many Japanese Captains leaving for China. Failure rate on JCAB sim and line checks for foreigners over 50% There is no relaxation of JCAB requirements for foreigners. The Peach CEO is talking through his ass. |

The Peach CEO is talking through his ass. If one or two captains moving to Chinese carriers is “many” then correct. 50% failure rate is a little bit of an exaggeration. Yes there are failures and yes at a higher rate that many other countries, however I would say the rate of failures between Japanese and expat pilots is about the same. I dont think regulatory change is whats needed to make the process of joining a Japanese airline smoother. A change of philosophy, instructional technique and decision making regarding training and assessment is whats needed. |

To put a little perspective on things, yes salaries are a little behind other carriers in Japan. The pay for captains is 1/3rd less than any other Japanese carrier. Not an issue if you are on instructor pay like RUMBEAR is. Your picture and life history on the Peach website tell the story. If one or two captains moving to Chinese carriers is “many” then correct. 50% failure rate is a little bit of an exaggeration. Thats not what Ebika - head of JCAB checkers - said in a meeting recently. I dont think regulatory change is whats needed to make the process of joining a Japanese airline smoother. A change of philosophy, instructional technique and decision making regarding training and assessment is whats needed. Never happen. Foreign pilots are hated in Japan and if they could all be run out of the place by the Japanese they would be. |
Hi,
Has anyone recently done an interview with Peach? I would like to know the process as I’m thinking of applying for the NTR DEC. Thanks. |
