Would anybody have any information to share about Batik Air? Heard they would be recruiting A330 crew members quite soon, if anybody could tell me about working conditions, company internal atmosphere, perspective, recruitment process...

Talk to Wingjet Aviation, they sent me information for 320 and 330 PIC jobs.
For both contracts the commuting offered is 10 weeks ON / 3 weeks OFF, base in Jakarta.

Yeah, I got the same info but I'd be interested in the "other" picture.

Not sure what you're looking for,
The contract company files answered all my questions:
10 weeks work / 3 weeks OFF is not a competitive commuting option.
Jakarta is the only base available and you wouldn't like to live there.
Money is far from being competitive if you can pass a Chinese medical.

Don't believe the Bali base, won't happen as its always promised - for 737 only anyway. Jakarta is a hard place to live, lots and lots of traffic, hot dusty rat infested city, and apart from the malls which there is lots there is bugger all else to do there. But Indonesian girls, that's another thing entirely.....

Like the earlier response, I would advice against hooking up with anything that is Lion Group. Unless you have no other jobs lined up.

Secondly they would rather crew the 330 with low experience pilots than giving it out to experienced outsiders. That's how it is over there, not sure how you heard of this. Perhaps they will ask you to crew the smallbus first with promises of mixed fleet flying. It won't happen.

Thanks Chrome, what you say is quite relevant with what i've been able to gather with a couple of guys since i started this thread. Don't think I'll follow that track anyway, better be less paid and alive than full of bucks and cold.

Chrome is right. Expat will not crew A330. its for the locals only. local FOs who is close to management with a few hundred on 320 will normally fast track to A330.

BTW the A330 is mainly for haji flight charters. you spend a month in Saudi flying to and from India, Africa (Somalia, Tanzania, Eritrea, Ethiopia and Djibouti, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Niger, Nigeria) dont sound... fun.

Its best to say where you are, unless you cant make it elsewhere and have a few ex-wives, mistress and a few alimony to pay.

Plus you will be flying 6 days on 1 off.
There is also the new rule with two validation only for foreigners, so this won't be a long term gig

I was working the last 4 years in Indonesia, not for Batik. Batik is one of the better companies you can work for in Indonesia. But you have to be aware, that they have a anti foreigner attitude in Indonesia. Meaning that you will not be able to obtain a Indonesian license, only a validation. That means, that you can fly maximum of two years on a validation. After that they are not able to renew it. Some companies are offering 5 year contracts but to be honest, no idea how they want to renew your validation after two years.There are some rumors that they will give you a two year visa, then cancel it again and then a new two years visa with a new number. And at the end a one year visa again. But to be honest no idea what they actually plan. Fact is, that Indonesia and also the DGCA is getting anti foreigner. At Susi Air, the director of the DGCA told them, to lower there standards to match the local pilots. Also be aware that usually all mandatory classes are in Bahasa Indonesia and not in english. You will have to attempt then and sit in for the whole day understanding zero. Its a nice place to life if you can ignore the religious movement. But be sure that they actually do not want you there. If they have enough of there own to fill your job they will let you know three month or even less prior your last working day.

What fleet do you have 330 hours on? To work in Indonesia you need to have a minimum of 250 hours on type

I got nothing on the 330.
Got some time on a king air if that helps.
Just general looking for places with low time jobs weather it be Indonesia or Papua... I will work anywhere.

Low time jobs are usually best found in your own country. The only low time job in Indo is Susi air. Failing that its Africa.

There ain't **** in Hong Kong. Applied to Susi and got nothing back.:ugh:
