I see one of the agencies advertising for E190 and A320 captain positions. The salaries being offered are USD 17,000 and 18,000 respectively is that reflective of ones actual income before overtime or is that a very optimistic figure.

Also what are the traps being employed there? Any info would be appreciated.

There's a book which is quickly becoming famous written by a ex-western Tianjin pilot called 'Flying Upside Down'.

I suggest you read that book as it's fairly current and will answer all your questions about the possibly huge mistake you're about to make. :=

I had a sim check with them and I was not impressed. Need to do your research and get past the lure of big money!

Can you expand on why you were not impressed?

Did they offer you a job?

Turned down the opportunity to go forward to next stage. Rude and un-professional

Read the suggested text. It's a google book and occasionally goes off on a rant but it's true. I was there for some of them. If you still don't believe it's real, apply and go through the trips to China for the medical and ATpl written/sim rides. At the least you will get a basic appreciation of how dicked up and backward everything is. You may even be rejected. It will cost you to do it but at least you will know. Do not use VOR holdings. You will never get your health back 100%. Food water and air pollution and various exotic virus's will take their toll. It's hard to get the money out of China.
