Himalaya Airlines Assessment

Hi, guys and gals! I just got invited to do the simulator assessment with Himalaya Airlines this month. I would like to know if anyone has any idea of the simulator profile? (ie. airport, runway...)
I guess this will be very challenging if they ask FO to fly KTM VOR 02 approach. I heard some airlines are making it as Captains only approach.

Sounds ok for an assessment .

Don't be too afraid of the approach. Just study the chart and commit the situational awareness aspects to memory. What aircraft sim will you be expected to conduct the approach in? If you're at final approach speed with gear down and landing config flap out at FAF you should be fine in any a/c sim.

Thank you Sir. I have got some charts from the Internet. I think you are right. Gear down flaps out at Vapp are needed to fly this approach. maybe some speed brake as well.
I have no info regarding this assessment so far. Since A320 is their only operating aircraft, I believe this will be conducted with 320 sim.

Are you going to Bangkok 19-21?

jackcarls0n 11th Sep 2016 03:41

Just outta curiosity what are the pay scale they are offering?

autopilot3 11th Sep 2016 04:57

Yes. Are you going too? Anyone else heading to BKK at about the same time?

Check your PM

The KTM 02 approach is actually quite simple.Use a suitable method to stay on the inbound course (LNAV etc without map shift plus PM monitoring the raw data).Descent wise, 10DME fully configured, you commence the STEEP part of the the approach, and will need a descent rate of somewhere close to 1800 fpm even more if there is a tailwind, monitor the vertical descent scale, as installed, as a back up reference. At 5DME reduce your descent rate to NORMAL, nominally 700 fpm corrected for groundspeed, and start looking outside for the runway! It really is that simple, ive flown it and trained others on it over 80 times.........Peter.

Thank you very much Peter. I just tried to run the departure and approach in my FSX. It works well as long as I am configured early and have more drags before that steep part. Thank you for your tips =]

Just a funny thing on FSX (For those who are preparing for the sim), you need to tune KTM with 112.3 in FSX somehow, 113.2 doesn't work for me.

Today got news from my recruiter,HI decided not to hire expat FO,under pressure of Chinese partners,so Captains still hire,FO even scheduled for SIM,throw away.

autopilot3 15th Sep 2016 02:10

I receive the same news. It's surprising that airlines stop the recruitment few days before simulator assessment. anyway, we tried...

You guys must really hate where your working now to consider living in Nepal for an airline relying on charters, maybe it's a good thing.

pfvspnf 15th Sep 2016 07:28

OlegM arent you going to 5j? and Nepal is a bit of disaster, very bureaucratic and all over the place!.

Olegmagellan 15th Sep 2016 21:19

Now will try anything else

JAMUP 20th Sep 2016 12:42

autopilot3 26th Sep 2016 08:51

avoka 26th Sep 2016 15:35
