Amazing India Expats made to do DGCA Medical for License Validation Only since 2010
 

India DGCA has been directing Expat Pilots from Jan 2010 to have there 1st Class Medical done in Air Force Institutions since 2010. Pilots are therefore subjected to two or four medicals from India and there country. Note this is only a FATA license ( Foreign Aircrew Temporary Authorization) validation license unlike all other countries giving full License. Fair enough but Expats should therefore be given a Full License. It's Discrimination against Foreigners!

Well you can always go to china , they make real easy for expats ....

I guess this has to do with AIX812. India actively discouraged expats since 2010.

From what I understood Indian carriers prefer Indian women pilots. Apparently Indian family structure encourages women to become pilots, entire family takes care of kids while mom is flying. Apparently some carriers accommodate women pilots by not rostering them over weekends.

This also protects their workforce from being poached by gulf carriers.

Unique approach but impossible in west.

Been here since before 2010 and expats were discouraged before 2010 also! its nothign new. But you only go to your initial medial at the IAF and then the next one there is on the 4th year..or whatever it is.. the rest you do with a local approved doctor and is no big deal.

I was in India as an expat for 6 years and the medical was brought in as some of the expats had shabby medicals by friendly Doctors thus the medical was brought in to make it a level playing field at par with the Indian pilots, i was never made to feel uncomfortable and it was a great experience .

India has a non existent aviation sector. Emirates, Qatar and Etihad, are the national carriers in a country still in denial. From money grabbing politicians, uneducated administrators, egocentric and self fulfilling pilot force, the country is unable to muster up the discipline, vision, or expertise to organize its aviation profile.
