Malaysia Airlines fleet restructuring
|
Isn't this a case where many of them will still stay put and simply be repainted into a new livery.

I have the T-shirt
MH 25 years ago had three different 747 fleets: early ones with P&W, a second batch with GE, and new ones on order with RB211. And the shop was tooled for all three types.
And they were proud of it! :uhoh: |
3 engine types = 3 backhanders ?
|
Isn't this a case where many of them will still stay put and simply be repainted into a new livery. They had a blue MAS livery which I guess was specific to the Super. Used A380's? Time flies... |
Some years ago Qantas acquired 3 GE powered 744 from MAS. All three were later found to have serious corrosion, apparently due to the re painting "process" used prior to delivery. Steel paint scrapers around the fuselage joints not the best idea.
Not sure where they are now, moved on from QF. |
Wonder what Dr M is thinking now.
|
...hmmm let's see now...there's upwards of 8 royal households in Malaysia...if each of 'em picked up one...there goes MAS's problem. Then if gov't biggy wiggys hitched rides with them (the royals)...MAS could fill seats with REAL bums that pay the freight.
|
The gossip I've picked up on the grapevine it that TK is seriously interested in 2-4 units. Of course the devil is in the details...

I read somewhere today the new CEO (some guy called 'Mueller') said the great Mana Ada Sistem Garage Sale was announced the day before he joined and therefore was too premature to say what will be flogged off and what won't.
If MAS got rid of 6,000 useless managers instead of 6,000 valuable employees they'd be back in profit. |

How would you know the difference?
|
Start by looking in the Staff Car park an look for the shiny Mercedes.
|
Or look out for the only worker actually working, while 5-6 of his supervisors/managers are chatting away with drinks in their hands, normally not more than few steps away.
|
In Malaysia work is a place you go to, not something you actually do. MAS is like Air India with better service.
|
wide body, long haul...
Someone should tell MOL. at RYR, as he wants to start longhaul, but moans that he cant get the required aircraft... nows his chance ... !!! :)

Just saw this,
We are happy to report that we continue to make good progress. It was announced today that MAS’s sole shareholder, Khazanah Nasional Berhad (Khazanah), has appointed Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi of PricewaterhouseCoopers, as Administrator of MAS. The administration is a voluntary undertaking by Khazanah, Malaysia’s sovereign fund, and is backed by the Malaysian Airline System Berhad (Administration) Act 2015 (MAS Act) enacted by the Government of Malaysia. This appointment does not affect our daily operations or existing reservations. You can continue to make reservations in full confidence that our flights and schedules are operating as normal, that tickets sold will be honoured, and that our Enrich frequent flyer programme continues with Miles and status preserved. Under the MAS Act, the Administrator plays a critical role, which includes facilitating the transfer of selected assets and liabilities to a new company, MAB, which will replace MAS as Malaysia’s new national carrier. The appointment of the Administrator reflects the continuing and considerable effort towards the beginning of a new airline, MAB. We intend the transition to MAB to be seamless with no interruption to airline services. MAB will become operational on 1 September 2015, with a new business model and a new management team, which will be led by Christoph Mueller, CEO of Malaysia Airlines and CEO-Designate of the new airline. These upcoming changes will not have an impact on flights, schedules, or the Enrich programme. O |
I saw reference to a manager announcing that the A380 to LHR would be continuing, as a double daily service requires 4 frames (albeit with considerable downtime) this contradicts the announcement to dispose of the 6 A380s. What is the actual case?
|
With 2 new A380s slated for Skymark just sitting in Tolouse, rather difficult to find takers for 6 used ones perhaps?
